Played Two Worlds.
Oh god this...

HOW CAN YOU MAKE A GAME THAT BAD???
BEWARE OF THE TAINT!!!!! ..it was a horrid game..that could have been good..given that they would have had an extra year...now we have to wait and see how bad Two World 2: The Taint Returns...that's my guess on the name..is going to be =D

also yeah, i played this game all the way through...wow i wish i never did that..

another one for me would be i'll be running around an area for like...3 hours..the place i had to go? back 4 steps from my starting location..

also in CoD:MW2 online...i cooked a frag..thinking i had Semtex..and i just exploded..i was like.. "dude..the fuck?" then looked at my class list after throwing it on the second try, then running up the hill only to have it roll back at me and blow me up..and saw i had frags..i'm a moron..also..blew up a friendly harrier..then was wondering why it wouldn't lock on to the "enemy" harrier..

This isn't an in-game dumb event, but it was dumb nonetheless:

If any of you remember the old NES days, you'll also remember how pretty Nintendo made the cartridge for "Legend of Zelda". Is was gold and shiny, very pretty against the grey game paks of the day.

I had an obsession for taking things apart to look at the insides when I was a kid (like most kids do). The "Zelda" cartridge felt heavier so I wanted to see why. When I cracked it open there was a BATTERY in it! Wow! Why was that there? So... I took the battery out.

Didn't occur to me that the battery was how the game stored save files. Whoops, all progress gone.

THAT was my dumbest gaming moment.

In MGS3 (PS2) I spent hours pressing the "X" key, trying to get past the menu screen.

Fucking "O" button.

First time playing a Halo game I accidentally threw a grenade, didn't notice until I got blown up...

I also went through about 2 or 3 years of freaking out when swimming in games because of a shark boss or something on Tomb Raider, the stupid part is I ended up freaking out about sharks whilst playing JAWS: Unleashed, I was the freaking shark and I still spazzed out when anything came near me, ugh... I feel so dumb...

Dumbest thing I can remember right now (I'm certain I've do worse) was yesterday. It was about 8-9:00am near the end of a bi-weekly all nighter. Was playing Prototype for the first time. Like a man(cough), I was playing on normal (It was the first save so I couldn't play hard. I think that would have ended badly though). I'm been at it a few hours and one of the guys starts needling me about not taking on the tanks head-on. I'd gone for a max speed/jump build and so my combat ability was lack-luster. But anyway he was all like "Just use the claws n00b!" to which I replied "That'll do shit all." So to prove a point I pull the claws a scratch the paint on a tank. Then my friend says "WTF? In my game that tank would be dead! Show me your upgrades!" So I did. And there for all to see was my total upgrading of fists, whip and hammer. But not claws. Stupid stupid stupid. Grrerrerrerr. So in shame I immediately upgraded the claws.

Played the first Outpost for 10 hours to figure out if there was anything more to it than the insanely simplistic button presses at the start.
There wasn't.

Every fps I run around and spray bullets. I can't stand patience so off I go to kill, die and respawn then do it all again.

Just about everything I do in spelunky.
Like pulling out a bomb to drop on a giant mummy on the level below, accidently dropping it without lighting the fuse. Then jumping down to light it again. Then when the mummy starts spitting deadly scarabs I run away into a pack of enemy's with a lit bomb without throwing it.

As for me, the 'dumbest' thing I ever did had to be when my teammates in a Halo 3 match were getting all up in my grill for daring to play as an elite (you know the type, team killing you and screaming racial insults into your mike) and I 'accidentally' 'missed' the guy invading our base and instead shot a bunch of fusion cores that 'in a tragic twist of fate' killed my entire team leaving me alone and then 'out of my own stupidity' happened to allow a fellow elite player on the other team 'sneak' right past me and capture the flag and was 'simply unable to catch up to him' as he captured the flag. I was 'so heartbroken' to watch my bigoty team cry about my idiocy of losing them the game and how much they whined and moaned about it, telling me this was the stupidest thing ever done in gaming.
... but was it really?

Because where I'm standing it looks like they were the idiots... not me.
If only you could really explode all the knobs on xbox live..suppose there would only be about 10 people left

This isn't just one particular moment, but it describes how literal-minded I used to be when I was a kid. After I got Majora's Mask, I bought the Prima strategy guide for it. Besides having the thing open next to me every single time I played that game, I'd also read it in my spare time, sometimes even reading ahead. I eventually outgrew that stage, so when I finally bought Ocarina of Time a few years later I just played the thing the way it was supposed to be played.

If I have the time eventually I might just go and play Majora's Mask all the way through again. Yep, on that "one day" in my future where I finish/replay all of my old games.

Not a specific event but I've had a few "Watch this!" moments. Followed by hours of rofling..

Cant remember the game but I placed a mine around a corner and shot so other players would come looking for the sound, nobody came. I ran around the corner and shot at some people who didn't take too kindly to my complimentary bullets and started chasing me. "Great!" I run back around the corner and was met with a boom in the face..

I was playing an America's Army LAN game at my school a couple years ago (we had installed it in the computer lab and played LAN games at lunch) and I was in this building defending this one staircase from a couple enemies on the floor below. I was red and bleeding, prone, and I had called for one of my teammates to come help me, and I pulled out a frag intending to bounce it off the far wall to go down the second set of stairs when it bounced up off the handrail, bounced back off the angled roof of the stairwell, and landed right in front of me. At that moment my teammate showed up. Boom.

Another time I was playing defense on that Bridge level and the admin had set the game to everyone only had RPGs. So I take position behind one of the pillars, spot an enemy, and fire, only for the RPG to pull a hard 90 degree turn and kill a teammate.
A bit later our team was down to me and one other guy, there was only one guy left on the enemy team, and my teammate and I were crouched behind this one destroyed car for cover. I saw the last guy, and fired my final rocket, which made a picture-perfect vertical 360 degree loop and impacted right at my feet, killing the 2 of us crouched there.
Even today when I mention that incident we all burst out laughing; I swear that RPG had a guidance system for my teammates...
