Okay, here's the deal. When i first started playing the game, it was okay, it play'd smoothly, but after around an hour or two it began crashing like crazy. Like now, i can't complete a Quest because nearly every 3-5 minutes, it crashes! I've checked other sources on this matter, but just ended up wasting my time.

I installed an unofficial patch that i though would fix it, but sadly it did not. I also tried installing an official patch too, but it that too crashed when i tried to use it.

My PC meet's the requirements easily so don't even ask. And no, i don't use any Mods (yet).

Please great minds of the Escapist, grant me a solution!

Try search Crash Prevention at TES Nexus. You can also go to the Oblivion Mods Section of the Bethsoft forums someone will gladly help you there.

Did you depend on the auto save, use quicksave or save over the same file a lot?

That corrupts your save and it's impossible to fix.

Get the mod "Streamline" from TES Nexus [http://www.tesnexus.com/] and configure it to save in a new slot every time.(you can have a timed save, saving every X minutes and all the default auto saves)
Just don't forget to disable the auto-smooth function, it will murder your view distance because your FPS got "too low".("too low" being anything under 60 or 75fps, can't remember which)

That may be the problem.
I'l edit in the result.

EDIT - The "Streamline" thing didn't want to work. But instead every so often i saved, the crashes are coming less and less now.

It might be that Streamline needs the script extender [http://obse.silverlock.org/] to fully work.

My last post also had a small error, a corrupted save is not impossible to recover. Every time you make a new save it could slightly restore your game but this chance is so small and rare(does not work for everybody) that it's easier to say that it's impossible.
There's also the chance that you had done so much in Oblivion that your save wasn't corrupted but you just had to load too much, streamline(if it works) IIRC also helps with this.

The Unofficial Oblivion Patch cleared up a lot of headaches for me. So did getting better hardware, but that doesn't seem to be your problem.
Man... I'd forgotten how often that game crashed.

Bethesda famous RPG's are infamous for bugs.

Recommendation:

Planet Elder Scrolls, look for mods.
Bethesda's Official Forums. It's got a lot of experts that are used to dealing this kinda stuff and give you one of a million console commands in under 2 seconds.

Hmm, Why would you try the unofficial path first?

Anyway, I've never had this problem before, Its probably your save files. Try coping all your save files somewhere else and starting a new game.

What quest where you doing?

Check your background tasks, there are some that will interfere with Bethesda games. Turn off SuperFetch if you're using Vista, it certainly doesn't help, only makes matter worse. I found games to run a lot smoother and faster, and not have a game go "OH GOD WHAT DID YOU DO" *crash* when I would alt-tab it.

Oblivion can be prone to crashing when it starts running low on memory to use. There are a few config tweaks that help out, although off-hand I couldn't say which. Closing background tasks also helps.

Because modders can usually do a better job then Bethesda can. Just look at Tamriel Rebuilt.

And all the bugs they fixed.

And OP: I had this same problem a loooong time ago. It happened on XP and Vista, I uninstalled, reinstalled and did everything I could. Eventually I had to get a new computer due to my old one getting a virus. Now on my new one it works fine.

I found a solution that whenever it "crashed", all I had to do was open task manager and use the "switch to" option. That helped me.

I had a theory that it was a problem with the hard drive...
