So they could give one girl pointy ears and pretend that makes her an Altmer, but they couldn't be bothered to paint someone's face green and give him tusks, or put in a Khajiit? Shouldn't have wasted their entire budget on rope bridge acrobatics and zombie werewolves.
You're saying they wasted their entire budget on this trailer, they didn't. It gave the game attention and that is pretty much one of the reasons they made this to begin with. Though its a shame they didn't put much screen time into the other races though...

So.. when was it that Elder Scrolls apparently became "not generic"?
I'm seeing people complain about how this trailer is generic and 'not Elder Scrolls' and while I love it, come on guys, Elder Scrolls is pretty much just fantasy universe 101. At least at face value, so I'd say this trailer shows it off pretty well.

Shame the game itself won't be anything close to the trailer though.

I'm saying they should have made a trailer that highlighted what makes their game special, not just show us something generically "cool." So far as I know, parkour and zombie werewolves are not staples of the TES franchise; they're just a list of things that the marketing department (that has no idea what the game is really about) thinks will appeal to teenage boys. I'm not saying it ain't pretty, I'm just saying it's not much of a representation of the game itself... unless I get to do bridge-fu in game.

What you say is mostly true, this trailer was basically to get peoples attention to TES:O (this is an MMO, compared to other genres there is a lot more at stake) but the trailers focus was on the War and the Alliances (look at the title,) it was never meant to be a representation of the entire product. I'm not saying that it presented much on what AvA (alliance vs alliance) will be like, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could pull off rope climbing and jumping in the actual game...can't say that to bridge-fu though. D:

Why didn't they make a trailer that was more "about the product" but instead opted for cinematic goodness? Well marketing reasons aside... if I were to say, making a trailer that presents the game when its still at the Alpha stage of development sounds like a foolish idea to me. instead, they opted for videos on them explaining what TES:O may potentially be like. (We all know what it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_Fr6VF_1LA)

An example for ya (albeit maybe a bad one,) do you think that CD Red could make their first cinematic trailer on Cyberpunk 2077 about what makes their game special when its barely done? nope, the only choice they could've made was a teaser trailer consisting of slow-motion, cool looking VFX and a little bit of dialogue just to get peoples attention (It ain't called teasers for nothin'.) They did not have the option to make a trailer that represents the game, so doesn't Zenimax at this moment (As much as i'd like Zenimax to have the option. =P)

As for zombie werewolves, they may possibly just be "battle-worned" or something along that meaning, i assume this because honestly they were not really acting like zombies in the trailer. And saying that the marketing department had no idea what the game is really about... This has very little to do about the actual game, It was about the War and the Alliances, thats it.

That aside, I wouldn't be surprised if the same cinematic team will be making another trailer for TES:O. In the end this one, while it showed a bit of what to expect on AvA, was merely just there to grab more attention to the game, and thats fine, the more the merrier. Lets hope the next trailer will be more epic.
