I'm really thinking this is Elsweyr, but I could be completely wrong.
The consensus is that it is most likely either High Rock (Bretons) or Hammerfell (Redguards).

High Rock would fit better assuming they don't have drastic geography changes (which aren't out of the question. Anyone remember the jungles of Cyrodiil <_<).

Thats putting a lot of weight to what was probably just a quick stock generation to throw behind a title caption though.

Given there's literally an entire other open world RPG game they're making between now and TES6, speculation on it is like speculating on the nuances of Star Citizen, or BG&E 2, or Half Life 3.

I bet the modding community is already looking forward to fixing/finishing Bethesda's game for them.

My compulsion to snark aside, I'm sure this announcement made a lot of people very happy

More than a few people keep suggesting it is Valenwood, and I keep thinking 'There is no way that is Valenwood' but then the thought about Cyrodiil's jungles crosses my mind...so maybe. :p

Looking forward to it's release in 2020 and then actually playing it in 2021 once the modding community turns it into a playable game. Assuming Bethesda don't fuck up the mods somehow.

High Rock sounds too boring and generic fantasy so I hope its Hammerfell. If its Hammerfell they might be able to go to Orsinium if I recall correctly!

Hammerfell is a desert, so I don't think it's there. Might be Summerset.

Why do I get the feeling this was thrown together at the last minute in the week since the fallout 76 leak when Bethesda released 'oh shit, no one wants a zombie survival game with crafting elements anymore!'
Take my advice Bethesda, that Fallout Battle Royale game you're planning to announce in 2 years, it won't be well received.

Hammerfell HAS a desert, and it is a large portion of Hammerfell, but it is not the entirety of the region.

Honestly, they showed a likely intentionally vague region, cause it does not exemplify really ANY of the most well known geography of any region.

Yeah given the plot of skyrim, summerset makes the most sense for the next game
Yes. Elder Scrolls being well known for their through narrative in sequels and deep ties to keeping their canon storyline in motion and consistent.
