Meh, another mediocre cgi animated movie that'll make money because parents need some bright flashy colors to make their brood shut up for a bit. Though they'd be better off just watching Wreck-It Ralph on Netflix or such. Same movie, except with a lot more charm, heart and above all, effort.
Truthfully, I went and saw Captain Underpants in theatres and there were a lot of kids in that theatre. When the Emoji movie trailer came up, only one kid laughed at any of the jokes and the one next to me said to her dad "that doesn't look good". I sent a bunch of the DVD copies of the Blu Rays combos I get to my cousions daughter and her two favorites that she won't stop watching are Lego Batman (she loves lego and Batman) and Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for.

Quite so. But the parents might not be.

Touche. Though I don't know how you can bring a child to a film they don't want to see...

OK how is that reasoning of "Parents take their kids to movies to shut them up" a logical fact?

What makes you think the child will shut up? What if he complains and begs and demands for something again immedietly after the movie?

For all I know watching the Emoji movie will have the kid yell at the parents to buy him a iPhone to play around with Emojis.
You be surprised. My friend's kid is an absolute brat at times but if you give her youtube to watch or powerpuff girls and she is absolutely silent for a good bit

Not sure what people are expecting from this film. It's such an obvious corporate exploration of Internet pop culture that it isn't even worth mentioning. And yet, people act like if it was the next Twilight Saga or something.

Because I've heard parents outright state they do it to get their kids to stop whining about stuff. If not that, it's buying something, or taking them somewhere, or whatever.

Parents cave in to their kids all the time. Whether or not it is logical or actually helps is frankly not my problem.
Its pretty true. Hell, I went to see Son of the Mask and that godawful live action Cat in the Hat movie when I was around 7 or 8. They are both some of the worst films I've ever seen in my entire life. Yes, parents do it to shut their kids up, but even I feel that parents should just actually take notice to what they show to kids. Show them good stuff instead of bad. That or have them learn the difference between what makes something a good film or a bad film.

This is why we need Rotten Tomatoes. So we can say that this movie has a 0% rating.

I know full grown adults who literally think EVERY movie is great. Most of these people see a new movie nearly every week, and it's always "Man, this movie was SO GOOD! My little Thomas just loved it!"

Thomas liked it because he's 2 years old and there's a lot of colors.

My prediction is when these people I know go to see the movie, they'll come back on Facebook, say it was good, and when I say "Cool. What was good about it?" they'll give me an explanation just as generic and insipid as the movie itself.

I mean, congrats to them on enjoying everything in life I guess, but at least have some kind of opinion on what you're watching. Otherwise, you might as well be siphoning a chunk of your paycheck directly to movie producers every week so they can send you a 10 second clip of some flashing, colored cubes voiced by some Hollywood actor.

The bigger issue people have is that two projects were cancelled in favor of this movie. A Popeye movie by Geddy TartarSauceSky and Medusa by Lauren Faust. It's just more proof that to be an executive, you need a lobotomy first.
Popeye and Medusa were "put on hold"(and later cancelled)by Amy Pascal. Amy was replaced by Tom Rothman, who greenlit the Emoji Movie. It seems unlikely that Popeye and Medusa were cancelled in favor of the Emoji Movie. In fact, Sony, Warner Brothers and Paramount were all bidding for the rights to the "pitch" long after Popeye and Medusa were shelved.

Paramount dodged a bullet there. They don't really need another flop.

If you never want to hear auto play videos again..
This may help you:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/706.942119-Autoplay-the-Wild-West-and-You-How-to-Disable-Autoplay-on-Chrome-Firefox-and-Opera-02-21-2017
If you are unable to read that one here is this:

Life is so much better with no auto play. To get some videos to play after that you have to click them a couple of times more, but so much better to have it cease forever.

I wonder what this means for the Razzies. Are they going to allow it to sweep the awards? Or will they make a special award just for this movie so that there's actual competition in the other categories.

I think this dumpster fire will keep me warm during the winter months.

Oh my goodness that was the most pretentious acting I have ever seen in my life, I mean I expected this from Moviebob, but not you Stuckmann.

You act like as if the guy that made this movie came into your house, killed your wife, and violated her dead corpse right in front of your eyes when all you have seen is just a bad movie :p

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Hold up...

You're saying we could have had a Popeye movie by Genndy Tartakovsky, but instead got The Emoji Movie?

I have never gone from sudden, unexpected intrigue to utter, disappointing disgust quite as quickly as your post has made me.

Whoa, wait a minuet.

Really?

Now I have this sudden urge to slap some idiots at Sony.

This is great, you know why? because this year we are going to get the polar opposites of movie review. Earlier in the year we had Wonder Women being raved about when at best it was a serviceable competent movie that fell well in the to the nothing special category. I suspect that fact that it had a women lead as the superhero and the fact that it didn't pull any of the usual head banging retard stupid plot with a self loathing anx ridden lead seemed to lead to a rave review.

Now we have the opposite oh a movie about popular internet culture well I am going to have to hate on this, I am willing to bet that even if it turned out to be exactly like Wonder Women i,e perfectly serviceable that reviwers would still think I have to turn my hate on this movie up to five, irrespective of weather or not the movie is actually bad. The thing is even if it is bad the reviews will still try to make it worse than it actually really is.

Oh and this is a line up of the up coming releases by Sony

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/studio/chart/?view2=upcoming&view=parent&studio=sony.htm

the folk that keep bating about the fact that a Popeye movie was cancelled seem to have grasped hold of Emoji movie caused Popeye movie to be cancelled, or perhaps one of the 20 or 30 movies listed in that link is why the Popeye movie was cancelled.

Have you been watching a different Stuckman? This is the most full on to be sure but I find him doing similar bits all the time. I find him as pretentious as MovieBob but less capable of expressing his ideas. Nor can he dissect a movie like Chipman can.
Now if we're talking about Twitter feeds.... I haven't seen Stuckman but it can't be as bad as MovieBob

Wait, *gasp*, are you telling me that some people on the internet lie or embellish how much they dislike things?!
I don't believe it.
