Since I started gaming I always favored the evil sides in games. But sadly most of the time they were not playable. I always really enjoyed games where you could play as demons or some other forces from hell. But alas, It seems as if I cannot find anymore games which can satisfy my infernal needs. Uptill now I have played:

- Disciples series
- Heroes of might and magic series (expect for the 6th installment, if someone could tell if its worth it?)
- Warlords battlecry series
- overlord series ( I guess you can count that into it kind of)

And I guess that is it I am kind of suprised how small the list is.I had a lot of fun with the heroes of might and magic series and especially with Disciples 2.

So if someone knows any good games where you can side with the infernal forces or play as a demon. I would be really glad to hear those titles.

Thank you in advance,

Dungeon Keeper 1&2 are pretty old but I had fun with them back in the day. You could choose to be evil any of the Fable games. Yeah, that list is pretty small.

I would love to find more games where I can be evil or at least on the darker side of a morally gray story.

If your looking for demons and such then I would recommend checking out "The Darkness" and it's sequel "The Darkness 2". They are pretty different games though so I would recommend playing the first game first then trying the second. While your not strictly evil you are possessed by the "Darkness" which is pretty evil. I found it to be pretty enjoyable.

Vampire: The Masquerade? You aren't a demon, but you aren't far off.

The Darkness and it's sequel as well. Again, not a demon (of the fire and brimstone variety), but the game sure makes you feel like one.

If you have Civilization 4, you could try the Fall from Heaven 2 total conversion mod. It's pretty good, and quite a lot more complex than basic civ4.

There's this cult type faction that builds portals to hell to get new units, and you can build a wonder which lets the big bad overlord of hell to enter the mortal world. And at that point If you're the one who built the wonder, you can switch factions to take conrol of him. There's also an armageddon timer that goes up whenever bad things happen, like when cities are burned down, and as it gets high enough, a lot of nasty things get unleashed on the world. If you play as the demon faction, you obviously want this.

I really can't think of anything else besides the ones already mentioned. I don't think there's that many games where you can basically play as hell.

Heroes 6 is kinda .... not as good as 5.

The game is solid, but Ubi did the same thing wrong that they did with the Settlers. They focused on competitive play rather than just making a kingdom. It feels more like a fight than the previous titles. Otherwise it is solid.

I would suggest Evil Genius. Funny and good.

Think you can still find that on steam for a buck.
Might and Magic 3 will always be the best M&M made, it had more factiosn, a balanced system and cool spells. Not to mention it was 100 times faster loading times than having to wait for the slow magic spells of enemies in 5 ect.

hmmmm, thanks for the advice. I totaly forgot about dungeon keeper ah how I loved that game. wonder I I can buy a copy somewhere.... Also forgot about Dungeons.

As for Vampire: The Masquerade I have bloodlines already completed it several times

About The Darkness, I remember when it was released never really caught my attention. I guess I could give it a try.

It is kind of dissapointing that there are so few games out there where you can be evil/demon. I mean sure you could say you can only go so far with a game where the main character is some demon/demonic something. But I think if someone was brave enough to pick up the concept you could go really far with it. Since there aren't a lot of games with that concept they could make something fresh, new and original.

The only problem I see with it is that you have to come up with a really good ending if you want to make a sequel. But I think this is only a minor problem.

thank you guys for giving me the titles I will go check them out maybe I will pick them up.
And If someone knows more titles please do not hesitate.

There's always Fallout New Vegas. You may not be Satan, but you're certainly not a nice person if you side with the Legion. It's really my only personal experience with the games I've played that has seemingly realistic terms of being a "bad guy".

I disagree. I mean I love H3 to death, but I see what new thing H5 brought to the table. The armies and the heroes are more customisable and the initiative of the hero decides his turn rather than the army. No more sticking a single phoenix in just so you can get the first spell off no matter what.
While I'm quite fond of H5, there is one thing that stops me enjoying it more than H3 - speed. It's so slow. I am perfectly capable of playing 5 random maps (that means, make the map, start the game, and play for a few days to see if the ore/wood deposits are not positioned somewhere stupid) or so by the time I start a game in H5. And another minor thing - I have to pre-plan extensively in Heroes 5 - the skillwheel is a god given, but then again, it makes planning a character more complex and it's more possible to "break" what you're trying to achieve.

Other than those, I enjoy Heroes 5 a lot and I think that it's a truly great continuation of the series with solid new ides incorporated in the old material...only it does feel a lot like Heros 3, hence why I prefer that still.

Heroes 6 is all right. I like it. It does add some new intersting stuff, although regrettably it takes some steps back as well (I miss creature spellcasters - with the spellbook and all. Yeah, the abilities now feel a bit dumbed down). Overall I'm pleased - it shows the willingness to break off some of the old mechanics and the new additions are generally better. I expect greater things from Heroes 7 whenever it comes out.

OT: I can second Dungeon Keeper - not only is the game genuinely fun, but you are also playing very evil side. Let's see, your enemies are the standard goody heroes - heroes Gandalf-y wizards, dwarves, elves - anything that is in classic fantasy and it's not evil. You, on the other hand, control demons, warlocks, goblins, imps, etc. You can imprison enemy creaturs until they starve to death and turn into your obedient skeletons, or you can drop them in the torture chamber to have some fun. You can be extra cruel and just heal their wounds prolonging their suffering and denying them the sweet release of death - eventually they would break and join your forces. Or you can just kill them to raise some vampires. Oh, and did I mention that you make your underlings work harder by bitchslapping them?

Given you like Heroes I suggest you try Age Of Wonders especially Shadow Magic. I actually prefer them to the Heroes franchise as they just feel better and have a load more options.

The Fable games let you play as an evil character, albeit a rather shallow representation of one. In the first Fable if you go all the way to evil you grow demonic horns and red smoke exudes from your eyes and around your feet. Also some flies fly around your head. The first game is also the only one worth playing. You can get some pretty awesome looking evil armour too.

I second The Darkness and it's sequel. The depiction of evil in those games is really good, especially the first. It's not just "you are evil demon who kills people because you're evil mohahaha", it's quite deep and psychological. It's more about power and whether ends justify the means.

The problem with developing evil games is that making games truely evil and implementing the sick things a human mind can think would probably not get them released. Being a good guy is immensly more boring than being twisted.

It's also difficult to define what kind of evil people would want to play. I kinda liked the fallout series in that way because you could be evil just for the sake of it, but I dislike when they have a "morality" meter. There should be just actions and consequence. Let the player colour the actions as evil themselves.
