I've been to the Escapist long enough to know that bad grammar/spelling is not tolerated by the more "elite" escapists.

Since I have been here I have slowly noticed myself correcting my grammar/spelling and reediting my posts more than I had ever before. For example; When I joined here I would never capitalize my i's. Now it pisses me off when people don't.

To wrap this back to the original topic, I have seen way more people ***** about Grammar Nazis than ever before. These people are usually in the 200-700 post count and they usually say this to new members.

Escapians! Do not lower your standards! I mean I saw someone on the User Reviews just a second ago say to a horrid reviewer not to worry about the Grammar Nazis because they're everywhere!! A review should be very clean!!

Escapians, we cannot, and will not lower our standards! Sure, some Grammar Nazis are kind of annoying but don't tell me they're worse then those who post "i heart teh PS3 because xboxx is 4 suxxors and M$ is devals"

As to the pledge part of this topic. If you can; Try to post one thing you will do to improve your grammar on the forums. Whether it be capitalize all your i's or to never use all CAP locks again.

I, Pimppeter2, do solemnly swear to always write my posts on MS word before I post.

Let's hear some of yours Escapists

[Thunderous roar]

I don't see much-improved grammar on your part. Then again, you may be hiding it until someone points this out, at which point you'll unleash it in a furious coup de grâce.

Anyway, what's the point of this topic?

I usually have perfect grammar; the only real thing that kills me are typos, and sometimes I will type like I talk , making it difficult for others to read and comprehend.

I, aussiesniper, pledge to always refer to myself online as AussieSniper, the capitalized version of my username.

dis thred usx.

I kid, I kid. I don't recall ever being a grammar nazi myself, but I have yet to be pissed at them. Grammar is nice. They make things easier to read, more pleasant to read, and keep this place one of those few bastions of civilized people on the internet. And even in the short time I've been here, I can already feel my own editing skills increase. Let's all have a group hug!

I'm encouraging you to tell us something that you pledge to do in your posting that will make your posts more grammatically correct. This will not only make your grammar better, but will make the escapist a better place to post

I swear to not carry on the whole grammar bashing past the first page when it has already been stated 20 times in the thread before I got to it. I will either respond with a relevant post about the topic or move on.

Uhh dude, you do realise that grammar nazi's fall into a similar hate league as 4chan trolls right?

thats part of why they are called Grammer NAZIS. The hate aspect of it, not just the strict intolerance.

It's not something you want to be associated with, ever because people will feel uncomfortable around you because they know you are going to needlessly nitpick and point out any flaws they have and for someone like myself, where typos and errors are abound, its a source of great rage to have some elitest grammar prick whos never experienced dyslexia or improper finger responce to start ragging on them for something they can't help or are sick and tired of raking through lines of text to fix just to appease some random person over the internet.

I agree if you are doing a review, newspost or something of similar importance then sure make it as clean as possible, immacculate if you can.

But for regular posts and commenting on issues or posting of opinions, complaining about someone else's grammar (within reason) is just acting like a dick with nothing better to do really.

Extra points if you can count how many grammar issues are in this post, and apologies for any offense caused (except to grammar nazis I have a pitchfork and flaming torches at the ready for you! =P)

I was only ever a grammar Nazi to be an ass about it. Usually trying to find corrections in peoples posts that complained about poor grammar or if the person was a known grammar Nazi.

There are a few things, but pointing them out would be stupid and cruel. I'd also like to insinuate that Word is not the best way to go; a true Grammarian Chieftain knows when Word is wrong.

That's not just capitalized, that's what they call CamelCase! [/nerd]
