The Second Preacher revealed he had in fact freed them, Kurumu stopped throwing Cortex just in time for Gravity to take over, causing him to Faceplant into the ground behind them.

The whole time Tomoya was actually watching the whole thing. Sometimes he isn't allowed to intervene but he does what he wants. Seeing the Preacher release the two and ramming Dillon, Tomoya wanted to actually do that but he was glad that someone else then himself did the good work for once.

Angelus snorted with satisfaction as Reaper caught afire, but was given an alarm about a quickly arriving enemy. With Caim's alert to the oncoming enemy; the dragon snarled and took in a deep breath; and fired her homing barrage. She was hoping to save that for Dillon, but that would have to wait. She did not know if she had hurt the car enough; and as she flew upwards to dodge the passing car, she screeched as it scraped her underside.
Cortex managed to get Juggernaut back online and back into the Fray as Darkside drove off the building.
