I couldn't find a recent thread about this anywhere on this site so here goes:
That's right, for anyone who's been living in a cave for the last three months, today is the beginning of a four day UK-wide celebration of the Queen's sixty years on the throne, including a four day weekend! An almost universally loved figure, the Queen of not just the United Kingdom but also Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a number of Caribbean islands has spent over half a century dedicating herself to the service of her countries.
So yeah, currently my town is covered in British flags, I've just finished decorating the front of my house with several flags and I'm attending at-least one street party, possibly two. So I ask you today, what are you doing for the Jubilee and what are your thoughts on it and the monarchy in general?
As a side note, since the Jubilee is all about inclusiveness, grouchy republicans and non-Brits are welcome on this thread, don't forget the festive spirit though!
Edit: Here's the official Diamond Jubilee song, it's got quite a Commonwealth theme but it's pretty nice, the young girl at the beginning and end particularly is a marvellous singer.

If you're anywhere near the UK, expect to see a lot of these over the next few days
