I beat Ninja Gaiden Black. I'm currently working on it on the harder difficulties. I'm such a masochist.

As a child, completing Battletoads. NO WARPS. you know what that means, don't you? holy crap man, I played that game nonstop.

At my gaming prime - Finishing Ikaruga on one credit on Normal mode. Yeah. Seriously. It took a lot of lucky dodges and a lot clever combos (Oh if only I could manage level 4 like I could back then) but yeah. I had S's on 1 and 2, A's on 3 and probably 4, and probably a C on 5 because I didn't even try to combo, just wanted to shoot my way out. You wouldn't believe how much I played that game, it was the only game I ever wanted to play, the only game I needed. I picked the gamecube version up again recently and tried to see how far I could go, and the answer was: not far. I could get to level 3 on 1 credit on normal and to level 4 on easy on one credit, but I don't think I'll ever have the time, reflexes, or pure masochistic drive to get that one done again.

Modern times - getting a majority of the OCD results in World of Goo, or getting TO the final boss in I Wanna Be The Guy, or probably 5-starring all GH3 main songs but one. Up Yours raining blood.

Though honestly, I don't even care that much about that last achievement because Rock Band is so much more fun to play, and I can get 5 stars on ALL its main songs.

In fact, thinking about it, the real achievement I care about is the World of Goo one because it was so much fun to do. I don't feel as much of a rush for challenge anymore, as I'm not even bothering to finish IWBTG, but my personal feelings are those of the most fun I've had. And thinking about it, the most fun I've had with a game in a while has been World of Goo.

Oh! As I just remembered and mentioned to Susan - beating The Lion King on the SNES without continuing. When I was a kid.

I tried that a year or so ago and got my ass handed to me. How the hell did 9-year-old me handle the damn thing?
Heh, I had fond memories of this game for the Game Gear. I don't know why, but it was one of my favorites, and now I find it fumbly and not so fun. Pah, so much for nostalgia.

I gotta say two of my best gaming accomplishments were.

1. Beating Ikaruga on Hard mode (I was so happy)

and what I call the "L4D Achievement Extravaganza"

2. I had always been sort of a windbag when it came to L4D so for a while I never had any achievements what-so ever. 3 of my friends invited me to play the game a week ago online since I had just gotten it. As a joke they put it on the Advanced level without my knowledge (As I only played on Normal). As I am playing I notice the extreme difficulty of everything and realize they put it in super demolish mode. I started that campaign, Blood Harvest, with no achievements. We get to the finally and something in me snaps and I turn into a zombie-ravaging machine. First I save a friend from a smoker before damage is done (1) then a boomer shows up and i shove it away and blow it to hell (2) then a hunter tries to pounce me but i jab his face before he gets to me (3) another smoker tries to grab me but i light him up with my shotgun before he gets me (4) Then i get vomited on from another boomer i quickly toss a pipe bomb and spray bullets and everything that's unlucky enough not to have a name above it and take no damage (5+6) Then The tank showed up i was down instantly and i noticed a friend that was helping me got pounced so i instantly shifted with my two pistols and blew it away (7) I get picked up and my helper gets pounced so I shove the hunter off (8) then battered and bruised we all make it to the truck (9)

That was a great day...

I had to sit down and think about this for a while. But, in all honesty, I don't think I have any stand out achievements in gaming.

But I've never FCed a Guitar Hero song, never won a round in a sponsored gaming tournament, or posted some ridiculously awesome score on a game to PSN or XBL. These seems to be benchmark achievements to call youself a good gamer these days, but I guess I don't qualify.
Yeah, I mean by Jordan Deam standards, I'm not much of gamer. But I think it's really about how something made you feel. I think Susan's collection of games is a pretty good example. I got so into Gran Turismo 4 that I actually bought the Logitech Driving Pro wheel. I used it maybe six or seven times, but I felt a sense of accomplishment knowing I had become just a little more serious about gaming by taking the plunge into ridiculously expensive peripherals.

It was between that or the Steel Battalion controller, I'm not sure, truth to tell, which one I would've used less.

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal.

Beating the Impossible Challenge. 60 waves of pure hell. I maximized my shield weapon specifically for that challenge.

It was pure hell. Took me a week to maximize the shield weapon.

Two that made me feel awesome. Not just awesome, but really awesome (in all caps.)

- First game I ever beat was Bruce Lee on C64. I thought my 7yo self rocked.
- Beating the first Mega Man on NES when I was 12. I don't have the willpower to do that again.

I have to say finishing the N+ campaign because it was really, really hard at the end. I was overjoyed when I finally made it.
Wait a minute, you actually finished it? Both sides? That's pretty impressive, I could only get to 47 myself.

Everyone could do that, you just needed a Kadabra with Fire punch, a rare Candy and the MissingNo cheat.

no, I was using a lvl 60 Blastoise, and no cheating.

Beating the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy text adventure without any walkthroughs or hints is probably mine. That Babel fish puzzle was horrifyingly difficult.
