No, just that such people's tastes would clash with mine. Besides, I was being fairly jokey about it (know it's hard to put that across), but even with slightly formulaicary creeping in of late, RS do have a surprising pile of awesome and varied music (OK, maybe not to everyone's taste, but if you like overdriven guitars and synths there's much enjoyment to be had)... and as I hinted, their concerts are
epic. TD also put on quite a show, it's not so much a concert as a mini-musical. They may be somewhat one-trick ponies (or two-album, one-movie, if you like) spawned of MTV, but I find their silly, vaguely spinal-tap-esque schtick amusing.
What may or may not come out of a speculative trip this friday is a recommendation for
Alestorm and/or Sabaton. We'll see.
SenseOfTumour: Thanks for that, unfortunately the quote buttons on this page seem to have died, at least for me

... so I may remain clueless for now. Can you spell it out?
Yes, I probably should have explained The King better - basically he's letting us hear what kind of material Elvis might've put out had he lived, at least in terms of all the covers he did alongside his original stuff. It works surprisingly well, even if one of my favourites is actually a cover of "Somethin' Else" by Eddie Cochran, released well inside Presley's lifetime.
And I'm not sure what kind of drugs or hormonal balance Jason Perry and friends (A) were on, but they always seemed to be on a positive kick even when attacking usually negative subjects. Still, chuck on I Love Lake Tahoe for a pick-me-up singalong...
Thanks for the BRA reminder (with an absolute classic, a bad attempt at that hi/lo synth noise was one of the first things done after impulse-buying a cut price stylophone), and my first proper experience of the so-far legend-only Ozrics (a favourite of one Jeff Minter, I believe, and I think I spotted a sample he's used in there... plus some inspiration for the T2000 tunes... and Screamer/C&C:RA?), they're living up to it. Mashups, well, can take or leave them, but one thing you WILL find is that Michael Jackson GOES WITH EVERYTHING. Particularly, whatever beat and chord progression it is Billie Jean uses appears to be universally compatible with any other piece of music ever made.
