I'm sorry I'm very inept when it comes to music? I really don't know too much about music in general. So when I say techno it usually means anything with an electronic sound to it. So yes, for me, all electronic music is "techno". Sorry for not knowing much about music. <_<

i am ok with dubstep. One of my friends in Norwich constantly sends me dubstep music to listen to. And hardcore. I like hardcore better though.

I'm from the UK, and here there has recently been a new wave of Music called Dubstep that has swarmed across the country, And i was wondering a few things about it...

Is it known about to escapist members in other countries?
Do you like Dubstep?
If so, What is your favourite Dubstep track?

PS, For anyone who would like a taste of what Dubstep is if they are unaware, this is a good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZMfhtKa-wo
Umm... it sounds like club music. Why would anyone willingly listen to club music if they're not in a club?

as i said in a similar thread; dubstep sits somewhere in the middleground of the electronic music genre because alot of the material is not as aesthetically pleasing as other genres. But it can be very entertaining in small doses.

This weekend i enjoyed some of the popular dubstep/dub-influenced electro artists (Skrillex, Diplo among others) at the Berlin music week and it worked pretty well for me because it was a nice change of pace from the usual genres i'm going for (minimal, complextro and fidget)... but after some time (for example after a full set) the appeal of genre is fairly quickly exhausted for a while.

It's like any other genre - it has its good stuff, and it has its dreck.

The main thing to note about it is that its good moments are fantastic, and its dreck is typically unlistenable.

I don't understand it. I'm open to more or less all types of music, but this is something I just don't get. Not my thing, but to each is own.

I'm from the UK, and have never heard of it before. Things take a while to get here, living in the arse end of mid-Wales...

I keep writing long paragraphs about this I'm not satisfied with, so I'll just sum it up by saying dubstep sounds like bad techno to me. I like techno, but I also have problems with most of it, and dubstep seems to take those bad elements of techno and run with them.

It's a pretty good. I was at L.E.D festival about a month or two back and that was fucking sick. Had a lot of big dubstep artists (including Skrillex, but I'm not that much of a fan of his music).

Finished with Deadmau5. Whilst he's not strictly dubstep, a lot of his more modern songs seem to be heading in the dubstep direction.
