Not my thing, most of it sounds identical to be honest.

Don't even think about denying it, there is at least one example in this thread of someone complaining about saying one band sucks because of it degenerating into 'wubwubwubwub' and then posting a song that does exactly the same thing and acting like it's amazing and totally different.

I think it's the next metal to be honest, the music that disassociated youth listen to so they can feel like they're rebelling from the mainstream.

Post 14 by Turtleboy1017, if you're quoting me to ask where.

American, specifically from Alabama.
Yes, I've noticed the huge wave too.
Borgore, Zelda song dubstep remixes, and this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awgXrAHktGc are my favorite from dubstep. And Bass Cannon by Flux Pavilion.
I find that most dubstep annoys me, but I do like the few I listed.
I'm more of a folk-punk and indie guy these days so it's not what I usually listen to, but I find it's great to blast in a car while driving around Birmingham at night with friends.

considering the only defining characteristic of dubstep is ridiculous sound effects made from bending, and distorting the bass line, I think I'll pass.

I don't really like music that has it's defining characteristic as something non-tonal.

I don't mind it, it seems to be creeping into more and more things though!

Thanks, that was awesome.
That's one more of maybe about ten dubstep songs I like!

All of my friends seem to be obsessed with it, and I suppose it's ok.
I was just never drawn to music that is as repetitive as most of the dubstep I've heard is.

I hope after posting you scrolled up and listened to what I posted 1 minute before you.

Now you make me want to post this:

95% percent of everything is shit, regardless of genre. If you don't know where to look for a particular genre then you're likely to find a poorly representative sample and miss the artistic goodness it has to offer.

As a matter of preference I tend to gravitate towards post-rock and melodic death metal, but I also like a lot of classical, indie, some hip-hop, a bit of jazz, lots of stuff. I disagree with you writing off two whole genres based on (presumably) a superficial knowledge of them.

1. It's too easy to make

2. The real dubstep gets lost in waves of WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB WUB

3. Fairly generic music, yet easy to make it sound like it's unique.

4. I don't really like the fans or their whole scene

5. Even the good stuff (Burial, etc) I find boring (not a problem with the genre, per say)

6. There's way to much of it.

7. remixes of remixes of remixes of remixes. Most dubstep songs seem to be remixes.

8. I fucking hate Skrillex.

9. There are more fucking breakdowns then shitty metalcore, and shitty metalcore is bursting at the seams with breakdowns.

So yeah, not a huge fan.

It appears to be slowly catching on in America, but it's not really my thing. Strikes me as boring, but my musical taste is admittedly pretty horrible by most standards. All I know is that it is not the work of Tonetta, and therefore it is not amongst the greatest music ever written.

I don't mind the odd song, and I've got a friend who's a huge dubsteb fan so I'm used to listenin to it as his house. Not something I'd listen to all the time though.

What I really don't like is the whole 'filthy dubstep lol!'

Can someone please explain to me what is filthy about it? I honestly just do not get it. Grindcore is far worse.

Wait, does Suicide count as dubstep? Listening to the clips on here, it sounds a lot like that, just tamer and more sanitized. Suicide was doing that sort of thing back in the 70s with drum machines, voice effects, and overdriven keyboards. They were badass.

C'mon, it's a song about Ghost Rider!!!!

I don't like it too much. However, Klaypex is pretty good. I found them from one of CorridorDigital's videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0a-o16i_Gw&feature=related

I don't really like original dubstep that much, but dubstep remixes and dubstep added into different genres (like the way Enter Shikari uses it) is pretty awesome.

It's bad. There was a Dubstep concert in my hometown yesterday. I was sitting at the river two miles away and I could here it clearly. It was strange sounds intermixed with random profanity.

Utter shit.

It's not for me. My sister really likes it. I just can't get into it despite that I like techno (some of it anyways) so.. yeah.

I'm not going to say it's bad though, because it irritates me to no end when people say music is bad just because they personally don't like it. I'm sure it's got to be good based on how many people like it. Like I said though, it's not for me.

Talentless garbage. I prefer my music to have some structure. Psytrance all the way!
Were you digging at Psytrance at the same time or were you being serious? I have a large collection of psytrance, and I'd say this dubstep stuff (Trialing "My Name is Skrillex") is one of the closest things to the genre. The only closer genre is the "DarkPsy" sub-genre. Notice how both of them use a signature sound (That squelchy bass for Psy) (Whatever this dark sounding thing is in dubstep) under the beat. They sound similar for one. People'd hate psytrance even more because it's even more stretched out to like 9 minutes per track and changes itself less along the way.

Still listening, it really is like Benny Bennassi techno + Psytrance

I'll admit defeat to an extent, I checked out your song and it is indeed different (Though still not my thing) but then I have also looked at other videos in this thread and heard songs that all end up sounding like they could be parts of the same song.

And my comment about it being the new genre for disassociated youth stands, sure there are some good songs mixed up in there but it's often so well hidden behind all the crap that I don't like that I end up generally ignoring the genre. The song you posted up (the one quoted) is a prime example of that too, it's OK but because it's hidden behind all the crap in the genre I wouldn't have heard it otherwise.

Personally when I decide I don't like a genre im not entirely writing it off, im still always open to it if people think they've found something i'd like of that genre (Proof being I checked out both your songs) but I won't listen to music I don't like and hope I one day find something I do.

Im a big fan of good long instrumental pieces myself and I really don't understand the attraction to most dubstep and metal so I may be entirely wrong about my disassociated youth thing but since metal has become and this genre seems to be becoming a mainstay of geek culture then it's my best guess.

I find it a fat ball of meh to listen to. As an editor its useful to lay on certain bits of video or spoken word as a sound bed. But really? Meh.
