Rabbit hides can sell for a pretty penny at local events such as farmers markets, that is if you prepare them right. As for the hunting bit, go for it! Deer spook easily (as Im sure you already know) so if your using a bow try to be careful, as you could potentially botch a shot if you spook it. Rifles arent much of a problem in that respect but you have to use the right calibur with a hit to the vital zone. Too large and you could ruin portions you want to eat, to small and it will just end up suffering. I recommend either a .243 calibur or a 30-06, either will do the job. Though if you wind up coming across a bear a 30-06 has more stopping power.RagnorakTres said:Probably deer, since that's what lives around the woods here, though there are some black bears. I might also go for some small game, rabbits and such, though I'll probably use snares for that size of animal.RavingPenguin said:Nope, its not wrong. Though, if your just starting out skinning some animals can be a bit creepy. I remember the first time I skinned a bear (yes, I eat bears Im just that awesome) it looked so close to human it was spooky. Rabbits too, but to a lesser extent (except for the head, its just weird).
Just out of curiosity, What do you plan on hunting? Larger game can require a bit of preparation.
