The german internet is already restricted...of course they only restricted the connections to sites with child pornography...and of course they won't restrict more sites in the future...

Wait, wasn't there an article up here a couple of weeks ago where some offical in germany said video games were the equivalent of child pornography? Seems like a very easy step from there to banning video game sites. And once you've banned all video game/porn sites, what's left to do on the internet (joking)? But seriously, it's all just a slippery slope. Once you say yes, it becomes that much harder to say no.

This has ruined my day sadly, these laws are a major step towards a "1984" style society. How anyone cannot see that censoring the internet, let alone anything, is in violation of a person's personal freedoms. Governments, corporations, nobody, has the right to tell someone they cannot see, read, or listen to something.

Technically it's not censorship, just "controlled access"

but to say you can only access (for instance) 50 websites a month, i can do that in a night, and regularly do, not to mention there are 4 adults in this house, what i i decide to check all my web comics and all of a sudden someone else can't get into their emails? it does seem daft to try and limit your access, i mean some companies still DO limit your access in the way that you have a download allowance. unlimited broadband is becoming the norm, butt some people still have to pay extra if they go over their data limits.

New bill going through the EU Parliament will force all Internet Service Providers to limit what sites their users can visit by selling "packages" that come with an X amount of sites included. Any site not in the package you purchase can't be visited.
