Has anyone tried the Co-Op Spec Ops missions? My housemate and I are playing them through on Veteran and having an absolute blast!

I suck too much to get above 2 stars on them. 1 star is hard enough it seems.

We've had to run through a few missions a few times before we finally get it right, we use Skype while running the game and its just a whole new element to the game. It's a lot easier with two people though :D

anyone else notice glaring plot holes and plot devices that didn't make much sense in campaign?

Overall a fun campaign, lots of memorable moments, obvious cliffhanger for MW3.

I already posted this in the News thread about it, but I have found footage of the Fox & Friends debate on Youtube. For those interested:

It's actually WORSE than the Mass Effect video: at least there they had a knowledgable person representing the gaming industry.

Glad to see this topic getting solidified into another mega-thread.

Ahh thank you I've been waiting to see this.
No problem. I know EVERYBODY wanted to see this for the potential lulz factor, so every few hours I checked Youtube again to see whether someone had posted it. It took a surprisingly long time to surface, actually.

Apparently playing a video game where you participate in a terrorist attack on an airport gives you the skills you need to plan such an attack, and also the equipment and weapons. How the hell does that figure?

It's not too bad really, you might fail a mission a few times, but generally we'd do it on 1 star to get a feel for it, then just have at Veteran until we passed it.

I just finished the campaign (on Veteran, how it is supposed to be played) and I found it rather good. The action was good, the cinematic parts were very good, the story was somewhat average. I was impressed at the way they put in some social commentary without ramming it down our throats, in a similar fashion to number four but a little bit more evident. There weren't exactly plot holes, but points that needed to expanded on more for the player to understand, similar problems to other FPS like Halo 3 and Half-Life 2. The final boss fight was the best boss fight I've had since CoD4 and maybe even ever. I hate it when games make their final boss either bullet absorbers or far too easy. While the boss fight is an easy one it's far too action packed and all around awesome for anyone to notice. The game ends really suddenly as well, while I knew it was about to finish the credits just seemed to pop-up mid sentence. This game was easier than the previous ones, mostly because of the lack of enemy grenade spam and non-respawning enemies. This makes it more fair but I was really looking forward to another Pointe Du Hoc and No Fighting in The War Room. Spec-Ops offers some of this but without it being in the campaign and having a sense of necessary completion I probably wont aspire to do them all. Achievements aren't that important.

I must admit though that Spec-Ops is a lot of fun and adds a lot of hours onto the campaign (which lasted me only seven). I'm glad that IW did this because the campaign of CoD2 which took me just under twenty hours I think, had a lot of great moments in a similar style to Modern Warfare 1 and 2 but also had a lot of generic 'clean these 5 buildings of Germans' in it. I just can't see myself finishing the harder ones on Veteran.

Multiplayer is good. It runs a lot smoother and is less laggy than number four, which is good, and there is an insane amount of customization for your classes. The maps though, feel messy. There's stuff all over the place, be it grass or garbage, and everything is very bunched up. While Cod4 felt clean cut this feels like ink thrown on a page. The maps seem all too similar to the map Creek in CoD4 in that they are asymmetrical and have ton of hiding places and camping spots. The flow of a lot of the maps seem to reward long distance kills and frown upon sneaky back stabbing behaviour unlike number four which allowed for and even encouraged this behvaiour. While I'm glad they didn't rehash it I'm wondering if multiplayer will have have the same lasting appeal the previous one had. I don't know it well yet so I might change my mind.

The constant unlocks in the early levels got annoying. having to scroll over a challenger or emblem in between every match was just stupid, I wish you could mark all 'new' as read with the press of a button. It is as balanced as the previous though.

Yeah, I enjoy this game. Not as big a deal as Number four but still great. I'm looking forward to number seven though. I've heard rumour that Treyarch is setting it in a Cold War and Vietnam conflict, should be great.

Thank you OP, this thread was badly needed for a while now.

It will mean not having too many MW2 threads cluttering up the forum, but it will also mean we can discuss the biggest, most exciting game of the decade on a gaming forum without being bitched at over it.

Regarding Fox: Seems like they deliberately picked the most ineloquent gamer they could find to fight our corner.

I've been playing (yes, I got to play the airport level.. it's a rubbish level to be honest) and it's... OK. Really. Not a bad game, designed well, exciting, but there are plenty of other games I prefer.
If like me you are "OK" with shooting games, this won't change your mind to think they are OMG TEH BEST! I've found other FPS (Halo 3 springs to mind) that are a lot more fun and if you want FPS with story then MW2 has nothing on games like Bioshock and Half Life 2. Recommended, but not hailed.

What was the comment made by the Amercan Academy of Pediatrics about the correlation between violent videogames and violence in children, mentioned at 2:46 in the video? Is it actually valid, taken out of context or is it completely mithout merit and uninformed?
