I don't know, but that is an example of only one of an extremely long list of bafflingly stupid decisions that have been made within the industry in the last 5 years or so.

Timed DLCs aren't evil. They're just stupid.

There is absolutely nothing "wrong" per se with Timed DLCs. It's just not a good business strategy for Bethesda (though as others have pointed out, it may be a good one for Microsoft)

I struggle to see why this is a big deal.

Some other people will get some DLC a month before you? The horror. Oh, the horror.

I don't think it's a good move on their part, but I also don't see why anyone would bother pitching a fit over it either.
Well this news about Far Cry 3's DLC only being on the PS3 just surfaced:

http://www.destructoid.com/ps3-exclusive-high-tides-dlc-hitting-far-cry-3-in-jan--239879.phtml

It apparently takes place after the story and probably wraps it up.

They are doing you a favor honestly, with all this hype around every new scrap of DLC no one holds to think for a moment if any of it is worth it, sofar all Skyrim DLC has been greatly overpriced.
Consider this a breather where you can collect your thoughts and buy things properly.
I certainly agree that the Skyrim DLC is overpriced but they still were fun to play and a good excuse to go back to Skyrim.

What I'm most excited about is the assets that the next DLC will bring and how mod makers can use them.

The problem with timed exclusivity is that it really doesn't benefit consumers in any way.
Well that isn't the goal at all, the goal is to benefit Microsoft, you see every time the less educated consumer will look at the console roster they will see Xbox gets more games and sooner, ergo they are far more inclined to stick with Xbox rather then any others.

If you were in their position (EDIT: experience included) you'd do the same.

Microsoft gets exclusivity for one month, and Bethesda/Zenimax get large sums of money, which (obviously) puts them in a better position financially and means bigger budgets for future products. That's not "evil". That's being good at their jobs.
Yes, both Microsoft and Bethesda benefit from the DLC deal.

What I'm not sure of is if the money Beth gets from M$ is enough to cover the loss of sales from frustrated PS3/PC gamers. I'm sure this was decided by men in suits or something.

It's still very disrespectful to it's fans.
They do not owe you anything. You do not owe them anything.

Skyrim sold as much on the 360 as it did on both other platforms combined, closer to three times that in the US. I'm betting the exclusivity pleases more fans than it alienates.

M$? Come now.

Anyway, I have trouble seeing why people get riled up over having to wait a whole month. Timed exclusivity seems so...Trvial.

You people act like microsoft are greedy pricks who purposely bully people into giving them their lunch money.

It's quite sad really.

Just be patient. Suck it up. Dragonborn will come out on PC with it's bugs worked out thanks to the Xbox360 crowd "beta testing" it.

On top of that, what-ever Bethesda wants to do is there business.

Does it really please any fans? I can't imagine 360 owners gloating that they got 30 day exclusivity. I bet most don't even realize that they have exclusivity.

All the exclusivity does is alienate those who can't buy it.

It's natural human nature to be upset when forced to wait for something when you know somebody else is getting it. Hell people get upset when the show they want to watch is time-delayed three hours.

I don't understand why this is a big deal. Lets say the PC version comes out in January. If the 360 version never existed, and the PC version came out in January anyway, would anybody care? No, you just wait an extra month for your DLC. You only care because the 360 version exists. You're not upset that you can't play it, you're upset because other people are playing it. This shouldn't make a difference. I know it does make a difference, but it shouldn't.

Not that I think it's a good move for any of the involved parties. Microsoft won't see any return on this. Hardly anybody is going to get the 360 version just to play it on release if they were already dead set on the PC version. The people who bought the 360 version would have done so without the temporary exclusivity. It's just businessmen and marketing types making stupid deals with one another because they do fuck all else and they want to justify their salaries.

This is a business move, simple as that. People always take offense to stuff like this, like Bethesda did something personal to them. They're a company, trying to be as successful as possible.

All I have to say on this matter is this: At least Dead Money got released on other platforms in less than a life time.

Cause Bethesda wants money, being a company and all, and with the PC version being moddable, users make their own (usually better) content. yes yes the PC made TES a 'thing', doesn't mean its the most profitable section of the fan base

I agree, writing M$ is just plain lazy.

The proper way to type Microsoft (an international company that trades in many different countries and currencies) is:

Mi¢Ro$o?₮

Let us also not forget the correct way to type the names of the other international money grabbing bastards, namely $o₦¥ and ₦i₦₮?₦₫o.

They are. So apparently they do realise it.

It's natural human nature
As upposed to UNnatural human nature?

It all seems rather childish to me. No offense to the people who are having a problem, but this doesn't seem like the kind of outcry that people should be having over a game where you're supposed to be an adult just to purchase it.

Come now. Only Microsoft is a business. These others are charitable organisations who make games out of the goodness of their hearts. >.>
