No. There is still the risk of the taint, even if low, that none of the characters raise.
None argues that the risk is not present. However why would the characters ingame raise it? It is common knowledge. Fact. These are the details of a setting that you describe to the reader/player, and by the time Dragon Age II comes around (and you are faced with Wesley and his death), the groundwork has been laid. They are all aware of the risks and each and every single of them (save for Merrill) are seasoned veterans in their respective battlefields. To argue and fuss over it would not make them present more depth. It would add another facet to whoever complains or shows concern, but the lack of it doesn't break the characters.

I would be rather upset if BioWare was going down the Resident Evil 5 route and have the characters explain every single detail of the plot and surroundings to me, even though I have a brain capable of deducting these things on my own. They already pulled that with Wesley and Hawke being able to ask "What corruption?", though at least didn't force it on me.

... if I'd be asked to complain about any lack of "mentioning" something or "plot holish" then it would be the whole casting magic in the middle of Kirkwall disaster and everyone just going on about their business. I appreciate how BioWare made Varric and Aveline protect the two Apostates in your party, but the lack of eyebrow raising was still a little grating.

Darkspawn though and the Expedition?

Ffffft.

Sadly they, along with most games devs have gone that route. If you played BGII, you may remember having to actually spend time looking for the correct building, the route through a maze/dungeon, finding the right person, tracking down a specific item or solving a puzzle/riddle. DAII gives you a waypoint and a fast travel marker. Sadly almost all games now cater to console owners first and BioWare, my favourite developer for all these years has streamlined the game out of their games. They're interactive adventures now, with a lite RP mechanic.

That's not actually what I was talking about, although I agree that quest markers are an annoyance. Just being given the ability to switch them off would help.

I was thinking along the lines of overexplaining the plot or a specific detail to the player through the characters. Forcing information down their throat even though they should be able to make the connection easily on their own.

Sheva and Chris coming to the genius conclusion on what Wesker might be doing with all these rockets loaded with a biochemical weapon is one example and rubbing it into the players face as if they could have missed it.

I actually think you can turn them off under gameplay options. At least in the PS3 version.

Sweet, gonna give that a shot and see if I can do this in the PC version too. Hadn't expected to be able to, so I didn't look that closely I have to admit.

Actually I have a better question:

When you come out of the deep roads.....how did you get rich?

Think about it, when you find that idol, Bartrand steals it and leaves you to die.
But when you kill the boss at the end all you really take from that pile of treasure is a few items and a few silvers.

You didn't actually physically take all that gold so what was it that actually made you rich??

Lord people I last played two weeks ago is it unreasonable to not remember all of the dialogue from act 1?
Then perhaps you should've thought of that before posting? Just putting it out there.

Is it really that hard to just imagine you did take that gold with you? Just because the game didn't show your character actually physically picking up a load of gold doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Sheesh, it's a roleplaying game, that always requires the use of at least a little imagination.

You know it's weird we're saying this game is "dumbed down" for consoles. Technologically speaking, yeah they probably had to cut a few corners, maybe simplify the controls a bit , but considering I've played NES games completely lacking these functions I don't think they added a marker and helpful NPCs just because it's a console game.

And don't just say console gamers are stupid, I've played enough online on PC games to know half of the people playing on PC are idiots as well.

I don't see what is wrong with quest markers... Can you really say walking around blind unsure of what you are supposed to do next is fun? Fast travel wouldn't be a problem if the scenery wasn't reused so often, the only problem with it is it makes the world feel very small.

Well, they needed the money for the expedition itself, as they were poor, but also because it would pay for supplies and things.
Also. there's a dwarf ( who was rejected by bartrand) that offers to pay you 50gold for your expedition, but you have to give him 100gold when you return. If you do this, then your gold will stay at the same amount, and you get a side quest involving this dwarf again some time in the 2nd act

Varric has a line that mentions taking the best items of treasure along with you. So you scooped up a bunch of artifacts from that pile of treasure, they just never go straight into your inventory because the game is going to sell them during the Act transition any ways.

How likely are you to fight so many darkspawn without getting hit even once? It doesn't even have to be a mortal blow they just have to draw blood.
Maybe the vast amount of money that you're complaining about is to pay the guard a vast amount of money. Sounds plausable to me.
