appropriate's a subjective term. Plus in my opinion, there are no bad words, it's all about the context

Think about it, swear words from the past are no longer found offensive. In about 20 years no one will say fuck anymore because it will sound lame.

To not say that swears have meaning is ignorant, but to say that their meaning is nothing but offensive is ALSO ignorant. SO, it all boils down to: choose wisely the placement.

And be careful. You never know when someone will hear you and maneedra the fuck out of you.

I have a problem with swearing, but I'm getting better at it. I don't think that there is anything inherently wrong with these words. Yes some people find them offensive but they're just words. It is a small phrase used to express an emotion you can't describe. Limited vocabulary? Yes. Negative limitation? sometimes.

Used correctly, they are a potent phrase and welcome tool.

Like any tool, language and swear words can be abused.

This Has Been The Ultra Joe, See You Next Thread.
I agree with these two. Swear words are still just words. Used in the right context and they can be great. But they are too often abused by, what Shivari said, 'people with a meager vocabulary'.

Too many times I overhear the stray bogun:

"Fucking fucker. I mean fuck, so this fucking ***** said, 'fuck you you fucking dickhead,' and I was fucking like, 'fuck you *****! I don't care about any fucking restraining order, do it again and I'll fucking hit you!"

It burns my ears when I hear things like that.

When is it appropriate to say fuck? Whenever I fuckin feel like it, how about that, douchebags?

...I'm sorry. I'm going to go take a time-out and seperate myself from all you mature people. If its any excuse, I couldn't resist.

I personally believe that swearing is simply a crotch. The reason I personally believe people shouldn't swear as much is that the word looses its meaning and emphasis. If you hear it all the time and especially repeatably in the same paragraph the words simply become useless.

Ultimately it makes one look ignorant and blind if they use it in the argument.

Meh, there's no reason to avoid a perfectly good word just because some snob thinks it's low-class.
I don't mean to start a conflict, but you think I'm a snob because I don't swear?

Swearing is a crotch? That's uh.. too easy to make a joke about.

But seriously, swear words have a certain power even in our jaded society. A well-timed "fuck" can really brighten someone's day.

Outside the internets, I don't usually swear, but when I do, it's always to add humor to a phrase if used correctly (call me immature for this, I won't care).

I love to fuckin' curse and I'm known to be a rather well spoken individual amongst friends, family, and here as well. Shit, my vocabulary is actually enormous compared to the average person, and vocabulary tests have always been things that I excelled at as a student. I never studied and constantly scored perfectly. I just enjoy using swear words because they roll well off the tongue and get the job that would require several nouns, verbs, and adjectives done with just a handful.

I could say "You sir, are an ignoramus, the likes of which I have yet to see" or I could just say "You're a fucking shithead...".

You're right, the second one is a lot funnier. And to be honest, when a friend of mine says something like that I know I can unleash a bit since I'm usually more creative with my insults than they can be.

Swearing. Fun, I personally have no objection to it. In school, in public, infront of small children. Perfectly ok. Infact I intend to have the first kid that pops out of me grow up knowing how to swear.

But really(even though that last bit is true) swearing is nothing. I's all about people being uptight little bastards, so conserned with political correctness, that well they have there heads up there asses trying not to offend anyone. I got my first true example of that on my senior year of high school, there was this one kid, new to the district, so concerned with not offending anyone, I made it a point to offend him.

Now that may sound cruel, but this kid was so far up his own ass he was damn near looking out his own mouth. He was always saying things like "Hello my african american fellow classmate." When ever I heard that dumb shit flow from his mouth, I would always counter with, "Whats up black friend."

RIgth swearing not political corectness. Umm swearing is good, always fun to use it. It's more fun to yoell "fucking little cockstain of a sand rat persian." the fifth time youve failed doing that damn wall run into the prison in PoP:SoT than somehting along the lines of "shucks I didnt do it right I guess I will try again."

MY apolagies to anyone who happens to be the prince form that game. No one else.

Enh, no. I don't really know anything about you, after all.

Are you a snob if you don't swear? No.

Are you a snob if you think that simple thing makes you better than someone else? Well, that's pretty much the definition of "snob," innit?

Pretty simple.

Meh. Swear words add some spice to the language. It is a rather unimaginative shortcut to injecting emotions into things, but when you are wasted and can barely stand, Shakespearean flourishes are very difficult to accomplish. Not to mention that they are often wasted on your company, since at that time others are also in a ... diagonally inebriated state.

... Good times. :)
