I've always been rather torn on these games. I played the first one back in 2004 as I was waiting on an RPG to play before KOTOR2 came out. But I was only able to play through it once. The game didn't have the staying power for me. Even though you could play the game ad infinitum after you completed the main plot.

Likewise, Fabe II's appeal seemed to be what you could do with your character after you beat the main plot of the game, which was actually really short (and I thought anti climactic.) Nevertheless, there is something really charming about these games. The graphics and the score set it apart from any other RPG out there, and there is just something about them that are making me really look forward to Fable III [http://www.lionhead.com/], which is due out later this year.

I'm not gonna lie, I'll be buying it the first day it's out. Despite my problems with the first two games, the uniqueness of the games keeps drawing me back, and because of that, I'll be retuning to Albion with bells on.

What do you guys think about the Fable universe?

Since I can't seem to get through a single playthrough of Fable II without some ridiculous glitch freezing the time-of-day, and another ridiculous glitch that sticks unwanted information to the top of the screen where it won't go away, and the fact that anyone who is in love with you follows you around like a lost puppy and constantly gathers around the character wherever they go...which is usually the ENTIRE town, since interacting with a single person seems all but impossible...

Yeah, I beat it, but stopped playing almost immediately after...good ideas, abysmal execution.

I for one will not be buying the false promises and empty hopes created by Peter Molyneux that will be Fable III. I played Fable II and that was possibly the most disappointing game I ever actually bought. It was boring, short, anti-climactic and lacked substance.

Back when Fable 1 was released, me and my friends loved it, we all played it numerous times and strongly anticipated Fable 2, coming up to its release like everyone we got suckered in to what PM was blabbing about, taking his every word and using it to expand our mind with possibilities.

Then when it came out we played it, and played it some more, with each quest completed, with each town bought out with more money than sense, we waited before we judged. Then it was over... the disappointment was unbearable, so as far as Fable 3 goes, I may buy it depending on what actual reviews say about it rather than reading the rumours and hype it gets (especially from IGN... no surprise).

All in all, not fussed. What could have been a great game got destroyed by hype and lack of passion.

Fable 3 seems to be able to provide what the series has been trying to for years, because of how you will play as the ruler. Hopefully you can have a lot more influence over things. But yeah I have always loved the series, spent ages playing the first and I love the second. The graphics are awesome as well.

I absolutely loved the first Fable. Sure it had a few flaws like being too easy and that bloody trader escort mission near the start. Despite this I thought that the end boss was fab and I loved most of the story missions (white balverine was one of my favourites).

However, I found the second Fable to somewhat lacking. I got it the say it came out and played it for hours. I liked the one button combat but I hated the leveling up system. Why do i need to upgrade my character in order to block attacks!

I know I will get the third Fable the day it comes out but I can't see it living up to the first.

I enjoyed the first Fable, though it was nowhere near as impressive as Molyneux hyped it up to be. As an action RPG it was mildly entertaining, but as an immersive story it failed miserably for me. Just a bunch of fantasy cliches strung together.

I never got any of the Fable hype before playing but I still didn't think it was very good. Well, the whole game is too light-hearted for me. Simply put the game was too simple. I like RPGs to be deeper.

i loved fable TLC and played it about 5 times all the way through.
fable 2 i didn't like as much, it felt too bogged down in all of the features, the economy, working for money, changing house prices, shop sales, lack of armour, confusing stuff to do with marriages.
there was a lot of stuff to do in it, but i never got round to doing it.

I really like the two games and will definately be getting 3. Granted they are not the uder detailed RPGs they are hyped up to be but to me they tell a good story and are a hell of a lot of fun and thats what I want in a game. Plus Lionhead is located just down the road from me so I got to support the local team.

I have an odd relationship with the Fable series. I've played both games to completion, even bought the Fable 2 DLC's. But when I play and when I look back on myself playing seems to create entirely different opinions on the games. Despite wanting to finish them I always come to the conclusion they're not very good games.

The closest comparison I can make is popcorn. Edible but ultimately lacking in substance. I think I bought the DLC because I was desperately hoping they could add some sauce to this formula. The only thing I really love about the game is the atmosphere and enviroments. Quite honestly, they're beautiful. I feel relaxed when I play Fable 2, not challeneged and deffinately not caring too much on the choices I make. The combat is meh and the story is lackluster. For a game all about choice it's extremely limited.

I am supremely "meh" about the game. There are so many games that are better but I would not go so far as to call it bad.

I didn't like the first Fable.
I got The Lost chapters box for my pc, and I did finish the original campaign. But it just felt shallow and empty.
The choice between the good or bad missions was; Do mission X with the guards on your side, or do mission X with the bandits on your side.

I did enjoy the transformation of your character, and by the end of my playthrough I looked like a pale white zombie that found a goatee somewhere and glued it to his face.

But all I seemed to be doing was killing guards/bandits.

I don't know why, but i own the following:

Mass effect
Obvlivion
Morrowind
Deus Ex
Fable 1 and 2

I hated them all, save the fables.

The others were just too serious, i guess. Not to say Fable is a joke, but after a hard day of killing balverines, i like to kick chickens, marry a whore, and punch some bums. Probably in that order :D

I could not get into Fable 1, just did not like the game. Could not get into it.

Fable II on the other hand, I love and have gone through the various stages of addiction. There is just something so rhythmically relaxing about virtually chopping wood.

I <3 this series.

In fact, the first is one of my favorite games ever. The reason I reguard it so highly is because I wasn't part of the massive Molyneux hype that killed the game for most people. I hadn't even heard of it until about a year after its release, just as I was starting to get into console gaming, and the original Fable was my first console RPG. It blew me away, and even after I got The Lost Chapters many years later and played it through on my 360, I STILL love it.

Fable 2 was quite good as well, having some of the best combat I'd seen in a game, a great plot, but the game being much more linear pathed than Peter claimed (He claimed you could "Go anywhere, but you were mostly still on the paths from Fable 1). This isn't bad gameplay design, this is just him gobbing off.

I was really thrown by the lack of armor, especially since more than half of the clothing in the game sucked, and I wished there had been more.

Also, the climax was less than stellar, and Fable 2 officially wins the award for easiest end boss of all time, and one of the lamest. And this is after Jack of Frigging Blades, one of the coolest villains ever. True, he wasn't too tough, but he was intimidating as all hell.

I was worried for a bit about Fable 3 and what I was hearing about it, but now I'm feeling a bit better. However from what I've heard it seems like they're ignoring the criticism of the first game to try and straight up make it more innovative, which could be bad. The evolving weapons look cool though.

Here's what I want from F3:

- More weapons with unique fighting for all of them (Including Scythes, Daggers, Spears, and other cool weapons)
- Much more clothing and armor.
- More side quests
- A satisfying end-boss
- A less linear style of open world gaming

That's my bucket list, anyways.
