Watched every match so far. Not really been a bad one out of the bunch! I'm Scottish, so I don't particularly have a horse in this race, but I'd like to see Argentina and Belgium go far. Italy too, because Pirlo is just a class act all round. Van Persie's first goal is still my favourite of the tournament so far though.

I'm Australian therefore I'm supporting the teams that Arsenal players are playing for, mainly England, France and Germany. The Aussies have no chance...

I didn't see the match (it started 3 in the morning here) but I was stunned to see that they fell to the Ivory Coast. Disappointing to say the least, but I hope that they'll regroup and make it to the playoffs.
make it to the playoffs.
the playoffs.
Make it to the what now?

I jest :p But in relation to the game, they really needed to be ready for the bringing on of Drogba. Happens so often with talismanic players, when they come out, you have to expect the pressure to go up immediately and hard. After he came on they conceded two within as many minutes, shocking that they weren't ready for it tbh. Alas, I really hope the Japanese can recover, unfortunately, it looks to me like the winner of the ICJap game are going through second after the Colombians.

So far this World Cup has had really shaky defences all round, so it could cause some major upsets later on in the knock-out phases, as long as a European team wins it im happy :>

I know being Scottish that you don't want the English to do well, but that just hurts. :<

Really? I thought Argentina-Bosnia was rather pathetic. Everybody's badmouthing Arg's performance. They didn't seem to really put themselves out there at all.

I have to say I was happy enough with Englands performance the other night, we may have lost but there was effort and determination. Realistically, we're not a top footballing nation, haven't been for a long time, but I'd rather see us go out fighting than with a whimper.

Quite annoyed really as the Italy match is the only one of Englands games I'll be able to watch as I'll be going away with work and will barely get wi-fi to see a results page, let alone stream the games or find somewhere local to watch.

I've got France in the work sweepstakes, and after a promising start last night there is hope there, but as an Englishman can I really support the french with any enthusiasm? :p

I'm hoping the Germans trounce the Portuguese this evening, have them down for a 3-0 win and I've got the USA 3-1 over Ghana. I know Ghana knocked out the USA last time round but I think Ghana were carried by the wave of enthusiasm and hope of a continent on their shoulders with it being an African world cup. That said, it's a must win game for both if they stand any chance of getting out of the group and I really hope one of them do in place of Portugal, if only so that we get to see Christiano Ronaldo cry. I know he's probably the best footballer in the world right now, but I just dislike the guy. Petty? Yeah pretty much.

Ha, I'm from just up the road in Northampton, way to go Bedford?! I assume with the large Italian population there though, this game was always going to be the most likely to cause trouble there, really brings out the tribalism when so many of the opposition are in your own community.

Everywhere gets like it though, I remember being in town a few years back when England were knocked out on penalties by Portugal. Within five minutes of the game ending the street was full of police as fights were breaking out in pubs up and down the street. Alcohol + Passion + Crushing dissappointment = crazy behaviour.

Eh, the first half was pretty shit, but it picked up a lot in the second half. Messi's goal was pretty fantastic. It was certainly still better than many of the matches from 2010, at any rate.

Since Norway Is not represented (thankfully I might add) I'll be supporting the Netherlands and Germany.

But for the most part I just look forward to lots of great matches.
So many classic encounters.

I'm usually not much of a football fan (not much of a sports fan in general), but for the WC I'll gladly make an exception. I dunno, but as someone else said, there's something infectious about the atmosphere surrounding the World Championships, especially here in the Netherlands, I think.

The only match I watched in full until now was Spain - The Netherlands, and what a match it was. Well worth my time. I think I'll go watch Germany - Portugal tonight, though. Seems like it might be a beauty as well.

I'm in a football pool from my dad's work, so that makes me a bit more interested in all the matches than I would normally be (even though I'm doing very badly at the moment :p). Who knows, 4 years ago I took 3rd place and got some money out of it.

Well my country,Ireland, didn't qualify due to us being a bit shite so I'll be cheering Chile on as that's where my brother's wife is from.Hopefully they'll qualify for the knockout round but I can't see them going too far as their defence is a bit dodgy

I realize it's called the elimination round, but since there's not any difference (is there?) I didn't bother. :)

Just turned the game on to see I'm already at my required 3-0 to Germany, fantastic! At the risk of being selfish, no more goals in this game would be great :D

Wow... I guessed we'd at least have an honest shot against Portugal, but... this?? Opposing team must be either drunk, high or simply resigned to taking it up the bum without lube for some reason. :\

EDIT
And now I'm just starting to feel sorry for them. A red card, three goals behind, and a player down due to what is apparently a severe injury. The Portugese team has had better days.

EDIT 2
I suppose Ronaldo may be up for a slight pay cut.

This was not a defeat, this was humiliation, especially considering that Germany didn't play well at all - just efficiently.

Dear me, this WC really isn't starting at all well for the Iberian Peninsula... Both Spain and Portugal playing like shit. I hope they pull it together, if only to have my score card make more sense. :p
