1) Were we watching the same game? Mexico didn't just sit back in their half and try to keep the dutch off the ball but were actively seeking out a second goal even when they were in the lead.
So that's why the mexico switched out dos Santos. I would never have guessed.

Switching out Dos Santos =/= Sitting back and holding. Mexicans were still going forward and trying to score.
Of course it isn't, but they switched out an attacking midfielder for a defending one, because they were playing more on defense. Which makes sense too because they were ahead one-nill and the dutch were playing much more on offence than they had been before the Mexican goal.

Indeed it does, I don't quite get what we are disagreeing about then. My comment was a response to an accusation that Mexico just hanged back in their half and just tried to contain the dutch which I saw as being BS, Mexico were still trying to score and pass the ball down field instead of just kicking balls out to waste time.

I see - not without some boredom - that all my predictions for the quarter finals have been fulfilled so far.

Argentina vs. Switzerland is about to begin. This could be an interesting match with Argentina not showing great form yet in this tournament (although their last game was promising) and Switzerland playing very competently with the players they have. Switzerland has no real superstars in their team but no clear weak links either. I'm betting on a small victory for Argentina.

Hey Johnny I bet your real happy with today's ARG vs. SUI game. It's nice to have a taste of that clutch playing that's been rampant around this World Cup. But guess what match is next...
I'm not eating any waffles for the next week like the rest of the US of A:D

I've been seeing bits of the US and Belgium. Just want to say its gonna be tough for the Belgians to score with a large wall of defence on the American side despite the few opportunities they've had. I would also like give credit to US coach for this simple but effective tactic.

Not if Tim Howard has any say in it.

Ah I see why you thought that's what I thought. I meant that the manager seemed to want to get a second on the break or see the game out, rather than trying to kill the game off with a 2nd or 3rd.

Also, European teams aren't trying to 'avenge fallen comrades and punish subhumans', but there really is a rivalry between UEFA and CONMEBOL, and if there is an all-Euro final in South America, especially Brazil, it will be absolutely huge.

De Bruyne disagrees. This is what you get for challenging the waffles:

By the looks of it, US is out.

Damn. At lest Tim can say he is one hell of a ball stopper. 15-2 Not many can save that many shots.

2-1 now.

Lets hope.

Yep. We are out, but we go out on a shield. Now if our people would not block shots/passes with their calves :/

Now lets watch Argentina wipe the floor with them. Hell, they would wipe the floor with us as they were given a solid semi.

Tim Howard just nearly gave us all a nervous breakdown in Belgium while following that stuff on the big screen. Dang man, Howard, Howard, Howard again.

Respect!
