I love it because it is a brilliant place to be with a large demographic of gamers, all of which have different and varying opinions on several widely-known gaming topics.

Have to agree with pretty much all of the previous statements. I love discussion and couldn't be in a place without intelligently written and well thought out posts. The creativity is fantastic; in the reviews and in the random troll slaying.

Heres to good company, manners and a love of gaming.

Do you live alone in the woods? :p

Joking aside, I come here for the same reason that many others do, it's really nice to have a place where I can talk about games and gaming without a wash of idiots and trolls.

I like that people have similar views on les video-jeux as I do. I have views that sharply differ from the "mainstream," and it's nice to see someone else feeling like I do. And people are quite respectful when they don't agree, too. c:

Would you believe me if I said I've been compared to Orlando Bloom on more than one occasion? Probably not. But I'll say it anyway.
Bah! If you think that's good, I've been told that my noble bearing and deep resonant voice reminds people of a young Lincoln

A 2006 Navigator specifically.

For one, the User Review section. A place where I can rant about things that piss me off and have people actually talk about any points I make and even intelligently refute them. Hell, thanks to the user "Hey Joe" my review quality skyrocketed. Now, I feel as though what I have to say actually matters. That people actually read and think about what comes out of my mouth, as it were.

I haven't been here that long, so I haven't seen the fabled Ban Hammer (+10) wielded in a very noticable way, or maybe I'm just unobservant :p. In any case, hearing everybody else wax poetic about it makes it seem like the mods here rock pretty hard. So, thanks!

Watching stupid polls and threads get their asses kicked never fails to amuse, and the things I read about whenever I just nose around as always awesome. I never would've known that some of the games talked about on here existed before now.

Intelligent users makes excellent a forum.

I'd like to join the circle-jerk, if you don't mind. The Escapist is awesome. I'm awesome. I super intrelligent! You R Smarts too!
Ok, I'll stop, but seriously- I will back up what I look like. Here ya go, I don't really know if I look good or not. That's the people who need to look at me's[?] problem.

You found this place uninviting? Most of these people I would gladly go to the local coffee shop with from readin just one of their posts. (Coffee shops are my unusual way of rating people)

Huh, maybe I should stop just reading things and actually post why I like reading them.

Usually, I've avoided forums that didn't have a large amount of people I knew from some other source. And those were always small forums. Friend pointed me out to the nice articles here, and I've found the forums to be to my liking as well. While there's plenty of serious discussion, there's a good bit of "fun" posts too.

Now, if I just convince myself you all won't stab me with sharp pointy objects if I say something, I may post a little more...

There are two things that I like about this place:

1. The Escapist is a gaming site with actual articles, instead of just rehashes of instruction manuals calling themselves "reviews." And it's not JUST a front for Yahtzee.

2. The fact that the following things:
2a. 13375p33k
2b. "FIRST!"
2bb. "SECOND!"
2c. "wats ur favrite gmae uv all tim?"
are actually NOT tolerated here (that, and the mods actually respond promptly to this sort of thing, instead of letting it go on and on for weeks before taking any action whatsoever).

Still, the influx of Yahtzee-parrots is getting a bit tedious, but it's nothing we can't handle.

Quick, Sylocat, man the perimeters! There may have not of been any troll invasions since the great spammer troll, reference I love Mgg, but we must never lax, for the troll threat is ever constant. Oh, and I've already jerked off into this circle, so yeh.

The fact that everyone here is a nice and intelligent person is what makes me come back.
The moderators (or the moderator that I've ever seen ban someone) work hard to make sure that the people and both

a) Able to form a sentance
b) Not hooting Dick Holes
um, does it have to be both?

surely there can be a time and place for being an asshat, in a purely professional manner of course, with established rules, as laid down by the great founding trolls of the past?

no?

I'm regularly mistaken for George Clooney BY George Clooney.

Unfortunately for me he tends to wake up screaming at about that point. :(

Necrohydra, we won't stab you with sharp pointy objects. Some of us may disagree with you, even vehemently, on a particular point. But that doesn't mean we don't like you, or even that you're necessarily wrong.

Oh, I'm aware, I'm aware. The only folks 'round here that get severe verbal lashings are trolls and those with a complete disregard for grammar and spelling. I'm just a little more of a listener by nature, usually. I'm sorta surprised I've been noticed - it goes against the no-avatar law. Is that a law even?
