I THINK it was Madonna's "Like A Virgin". It's the earliest album I can recall owning (aside from an old Daffy Duck .45 I had as a kid). I was 8 or 9 and bought (and still own) that album and a .45 that was out at the time, went home, put it on the record player and baked chocolate chip cookies for my parents and the guys who were building our new house. :D Fun memory.

A Sense Of Purpose by In Flames.
Went to the shop to buy their newer album, and when I found out they didn't have it yet I got the special edition of a sense of purpose. I had never listened to any of it's song before and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life as it is now my favorite album.
If you got one of their good albums, your mind would be blown all the way to Saturn, then! :p

The first album I bought was Ingenmansland by Nordman. I think I was 5 or 6. But since none of you are going to know who that is (save that one guy) it might be more interesting to relay the story of how I became what is colloquially known as a 'metalhead'. Especially since it's gaming related!

In my early teens, I borrowed a snowboarding game for the Gamecube called 'SSX Tricky'. The game listed the favourite bands of the fictional characters in the game, and since the guy I liked the most had his listed as Slayer and Napalm Death I figured I'd check them out the next time I went to a record store. So I did. The album I came home with was Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer.

It is thus the fault of SSX Tricky that I'm currently roaring along to a Deicide song in my underwear in a room full of guitars and basses.

Mine was either

Definitely Maybe by Oasis or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by Smashing Pumpkins. Cant actually remember which.

Alestorm's first CD, "Captain Morgan's Revenge". Prior I'd received CDs as gifts and whatnot, but it was the first I spent hard-earned cashola upon. My reasoning? Fucking Pirate Metal man! That's a must-own thing right there.

I believe the first album I ever purchased was the Ramones self-titled debut, although, it could have been Leave Home, but I'm almost certain it was their debut.

It may not be possible to remember what my first record was. I expect it was one of these, in order of likelihood:

Who's Greatest Hits (most likely the first)
Van Halen: 5150
Soundtrack for Streets of Fire: A Rock & Roll Fable

I have a sneaking suspicion that the first one was actually The Best of Jethro Tull, but I cannot properly re-create the timeline.

Good God. This is the most horrible manifestation of a Capcha ever. What the fuck?

MMHMM by Relient K.

All of my music tastes can be traced back to the purchase of that album. Even after eight years, it's still one of my favorites of all time. I must have listened to it hundreds of times, no exaggeration.

I believe it was A night at the opera by Queen. I liked it so much I went back the next day to get A day at the races I was about 11 or 12 at the time.

Eminem - The Marshal Mathers LP. Still a damn fine record although I'm not much into rap these days.

I'm pretty sure it was Heathen Chemistry by Oasis. It was certainly my first CD album, can't remember if I'd bought anything on cassette before then...

I first bought Multi-Dimensional. It's the soundtrack for Sonic Adventure 2. Yes, Sonic music. That's exactly what it is. It came on two disks, labeled as the "Hero" disk and the "Dark" disk. Very fitting. Very appropriate.

Christ, I honestly can't remember...I think it might have been Hybrid Theory but I can't remember if I bought that or my parents got it for me, probably the latter given I was only like 9 at the time, though I've since chucked it. The earliest I can definately remember going out and buying was Ascendancy by Trivium when I was 13. And you know what? I still have it. :3 And I still think it's pretty damn good, in spite of how much credibility I just lost typing that sentence. XD Maybe it's partly fueled out of nostalgia, I did listen to that album to death and they were one of my favourite bands; leaving me eagerly awaiting what they would put out next. And then they made this...

...and I immediately lost all interest. :D I guess my childhood had the curteousy to teach me that I shouldn't set myself up for dissapointment.

Weird Al's Running With Scissors. Lost the actual CD but I still have it downloaded on my computer. I think it's still my favorite CD of his.
