Thaedrin emerged from below as well, struggling to keep his footing on the slick deck; he shouted to his Wardens when he saw the damage to their ship, alarmed, "Make this quick!"

The deck pitched again, raising at a slant down towards where the ship was taking on water; with the pirate ship jammed into the hull, boarding was inevitable. It wasn't long before the deck was overrun with raiders and disoriented Tevinters, turning the quiet cruise into a bloodbath. Some didn't fight at all, but ran with singular focus down the hatch to appraise the cargo hold. A team of them swarmed Jarrik and Ulrin, armed threats that they were; the raiders were a mess of leather, banded wooden shields and curved blades when they attacked.

When the raiders surrounded them Ulrin did his best to prepare to dodge their attacks. However either from the slick footing or from the close proximity of their attackers, the elf couldn't manage to maneuver well enough to dodge each blow. He let out a short cry of pain was one of the curved blades sliced into his upper arm. He retaliated at the pirate that had struck him, moving in fast and following the slant of the ship, he ducked under his weapon swinging one dagger forward, just over the wooden shield. And while the raider moved to attempt to block his first blow he raised his second weapon and jabbed it quickly into the side of the man's gut.

Diocles strode onto deck, assessing the situation instantly. He released an arrow, shooting a few feet to the left of the first raider. The wind took the arrow back to its intended target, grazing the man's side.

As soon as the men began pouring onto the ship, Sulahn'nehn began to back up. If felt like within a blink of an eye, they were everywhere. She could hardly make sense of it all in the chaos and it seemed her comrades were struggling just as much. Ulrin and the newcomer were surrounded and something needed to be done.

Staff in hand, she jut it forward and attacked the very same man Ulrin removed his dagger from, hitting him in the torso with a crack.

Jarrik waded straight into the thick of it, attempting to stem the tide of boarders by making a wall of himself near where the ram had impacted. Though quite pleased to find the elf right there with him.

"You'll be havin' to go through us first!" He bellowed out as the next group climbed over the rails.

Blows rained down and darted forth as the melee erupted, most of them harmlessly bouncing of shields or being little more than scratches. Perhaps it wasn't the first time these raiders pulled this stunt of attacking within a storm though. The deck lurched again, and this time Jarrik found himself thrown off balance. The 'rats took the opportunity to each cut a long gash, while his counterattack was easily battered aside.

Ghil slid down the slope of the deck on her feet, using the railing to brace herself as she swung her greatsword at a raider hounding Jarrik; his back was turned, and the blade took a bite out of his side, but she was unable to maneuver away in time to avoid his counterattack. His partner struggled to find a way past Jarrik's defense and the reach of his spear, feinting to score a cut across one tattooed arm--Thaedrin's spell blasted him in the side of the head before he could swing in a second strike.

The two that found Ulrin were trying to force him back and away from his peers, missing as many blows as they landed. "Hold still, damn you!"

Thaedrin gestured to his fellow ranged fighters, "Higher ground!"

Diocles launched another arrow, but the wind took it wide-It was too random, he couldn't compensate! He ignored Thaedrin's advice and slung his bow over his back, intending to join his allies in close combat. He used the slope to his advantage, diving and sliding forward before hooking the railing and flipping himself back to his feet on the other side of the pirates, drawing his kukris.

"Over here!"

Ulrin continued to step back from the swinging blades and attempt to dodge as many blows as possible. Ideally he wanted to avoid them all together, but the slick floor of the deck and the constant rolling of the ship made that impossible. He grunted and winced with each slash that grazed him. Thankfully none of the strikes were serious yet. But he could not dodge for long. The elf looked for an opening before lunging forward at one of the raiders jabbing one knife forward and slashing with the next. Yet all he cut was air, his attackers would not be fooled into letting him land a strike while they dodge another.

If only they were fighting Darkspawn. They're too focused on murdering to think of dodging tactics.

Alrik emerged on deck and was, for a moment, unnoticed. He thus took his time spotting a target, striding forward, and burying his axe in a marauder's shoulder. Regrettably, his adversary was wearing armor and was not entirely bisected. Still, blood ran freely.

Sulahn'nehn had no trouble following that particular order. The farther away she was from the swinging blades the better. She retreated just behind the Constable; One shield was better than none. While she backtracked she kept her eyes on friend, waiting for him to get the upper hand and find his footing. A particularly potent spell erupted from her staff, whistling through the air before it loudly collided with a raider, flooring him.

The raider continued to hammer against Jarrik's shield, content to keep the man in a bind. Jarrik steeled himself for what was to come, sometimes you just have to accept a blow in order to regain your footing.

"I'll be payin' you back for that one." He spat back at the man, fresh blood leaking unto the deck.

Ghil swung again, brutal and without skill, but it nearly took the pirate's leg off either way. She stumbled backwards, trying to regain her footing as the bay splashed up into her face. "Do not let up! Dammit--that stings!"

Thaedrin cursed as his spell went wide, "Blighters, I can't see damned anything!"

The raiders were clever-- far more focused than the Darkspawn the Wardens were used to facing. The one who appeared their leader shouted out: "Kill the giantess first!"

Three raiders ducked and disengaged until they had met around Ghil, raining slashes upon her; one dealt a particularly devastating hack to her gut.

The fourth raider stayed where he was, looking dazed.

Alrik grunted in displeasure and chased after the raider he'd been fighting, fetching the man another blow with his axe.

Diocles wasn't pleased. He flanked his previous target, attacking him from behind as the pirate focused on Ghil.

"Don't turn your back on me!"

Her friends were not exactly in their element and looked like they would be overrun shortly. She remained focused on keeping the other elf out of trouble until she heard part of an order being called out. Sulahn'nehn had only caught the word 'giantess' in an unfamiliar voice, but whatever the rest of the sentence had been didn't matter. It put Ghil in danger and her eyes darted to locate her just in time to see her be slashed up. Her brow furrowed and after a shout a raider was sent rocketing through a section of the railing and down to the waters below.

Unlike the archer, Ulrin still could not manage a hit on the raiders. Even as they flanked and assaulted his comrade with their blades, he was unable to keep his footing long enough to land a successful strike on the men, and unable to help her. He was barely able to help himself in all this mess.

Ghil howled with pain; two blades made their mark on her, one went too deep for comfort. She parried the last and took a wide swing less to damage than to give herself room. She knicked one's gut, cutting through the boiled leather he wore.

Thaedrin's next spell blasted into another raider before he ducked back behind the mast and out of view.

Jarrik chased the man after he disengaged with him. The slashes he had taken earlier put him a step to slow to intercept the man before he descended on Ghil with his allies. He raised his shield, intending to merely plow into the raider, but the pirate was able to sidestep and glance it away.

He was livid, none to please about making such a poor show of himself, and readied his spear for another bout.

The chief raider growled as one of his men went down, and another, terribly wounded, ran for it and jumped into the surf. He looked over his shoulder to his ship. "BRING ON ANTON!" he roared.

Anton did not appear immediately, however, and the two remaining raiders continued hacking away at Ghil, darting this way and that to try and avoid counter attacks.

Now Anton appeared, being released from a heavy iron cage; as it turned out, Anton was a full-grown male tiger. Lacking the discipline to target Ghil, he lunged at Diocles instead, swiping a massive clawed paw at him. The attack missed.

Alrik attacked one of the raiders, wounding the man who as yet had not been hit.

Keeping towards the back had been sound advice. She could see a fair deal of what was happening from where she stood and she knew that Ghil was in need of more help. Whoever Anton was was likely meant to deal with the 'giantess'. Another body to be added to the fray as if it weren't difficult enough to keep from blasting her comrades. However, Sulahn'nehn was shocked to discover a wild beast being released instead of a person.

A tiger?! Are they mad?

Surely, a beast like that would attack anything in front of it and not just them. There was little time to think on it more as the big cat set it's sights on Diocles. She rose her staff upwards and shouted; three spells barreled towards their targets striking the tiger and two of the raiders in the face.
