Thaedrin returned to his mages, calling out the rhythm until the lot of them managed to return to the routine. As he walked the lines again, he gave Sulahn'nehn no special attention, nor any attention at all. A few more weeks of these exercises every morning, and she may be passable as a combatant.

Nodding goodbye to Sul, Diocles made his way to Delphina. He gave her a crisp salute, albeit one unaccompanied by an at-attention stance.

"May I be of assistance?"

Just the presence of the constable made her angry, his voice irritating like stone grinding against stone. She questioned how anyone with methods like his rose to any position of power and then remembered that he was human. It seemed to go hand in hand with humans. With each spell she wished more and more that he was her target or at least to give him a turn at being slapped around.

Delphina glanced at the arrow targets; they were not seeing much use. "Perhaps if we could find that large woman and the unpleasant elf, we could teach them how to use a bow. It's always a useful skill to have, right? Even for those who prefer to hit things with sticks."

Trajan walked down the line of mages, inspecting them. When he reached Sulahn'nehn he spoke to her quietly.

"So, was that your first trip to the fade? How did you find it?"

"Hah, right. Personally I'd rather attack the ogre a few times before he gets to me."

Diocles took a brief look around for Ghil and Ulrin. Upon spotting his newest comrades, he whistled and waved them over.

The spell she'd been casting shot forward sooner than she'd meant when she heard 'Fade'. Sulahn'nehn cast the most disrespectful look at Trajan, one she instantly wished she could take back. But it said worlds more on the subject than she could hope to accurately convey.

"I did not find it well, Ser." Her expression soured, "I do not wish to describe it in depth. It was...unpleasant. Nor do I wish to venture there again under those conditions. Ser."

Ghil was still observing the others at their work, rather than take part. She had had "practice" enough last night, and besides, if she swung so much as a twig at some of these fresh recruits they might piss themselves. The sharpness of the whistle caught her attention. She looked up towards the skinny man and the blonde woman, and pushed herself up from the stairs to join them. She had to look down to meet their gazes.

"...What?"

Trajan seemed untroubled by her tone. He glanced up as an Imperial Courier trotted through the gates on horseback. In a moment he would go speak with him, but not just yet.

"Did you see the Black City?" he asked her, wistful.

----------------------------------------------------------

Delphina held up a bow.

"Do you know how to use one of these, Ghil?"

What was wrong with the commander? Did he not just hear her say she didn't want to talk about it? He probably couldn't have cared less, something that should have been so surprising. She wondered if he would have pressed on it had she been anyone else.

"City? Yes, I suppose. A black mass hanging in the sky." Whether or not it was true that it used to be golden and the seat of their god, she didn't know. But she had seen it. She'd never been more interested in getting back to training in her life. Why such fascination with an unobtainable place?

Ulrin was a little bit insulted Ghil refereed to his weapons as 'tiny'. But he supposed to the barbarian woman they must seem like tooth picks. However they were what he had, and what he was familiar with. He never trained with anything else.

When Delphina and Diocles called them over he followed and muttered to himself, "...she probably doesn't use one so 'tiny'..."

"Yes... what is it like there, I wonder? Maybe one day we will find a Darkspawn that can tell us." He confided this to her as though it were impossible that she would not be interested.

With a final nod he headed to the courier and spent the next several minutes speaking to the man.

"Right, right."

Diocles coughed, waving to Ulrin.

"Could you get this woman a yew tree and a rope, please?"

Ghil gave a bark of laughter, "It is not a bad idea. That you have in your hands, I would break it if I drew an arrow. I am not made for it, I have my fists and my sword."

"Right, so. Stand here. Imagine that on top of that roof there is a mage attacking you. Now. Show me how you punch it."

"Mount up, Wardens," Trajan called out. Servants began hurrying to saddle the horses.

Trajan passed by Thaedrin on his way to the stable. "Val Dorma is hard pressed; they've requested our assistance. Let's head out immediately."

Ulrin had to fight actually chuckling at one of Diocles' comments. Luckily Trajan called their attentions away from training and to more serious matters.

"Another attack... I suppose there is not a day that the Grey Wardens do not ride out into battle."

Thaedrin came to a pause and ordered the men under his command to gather their gear and take a mount, to be ready to march in five minutes. He glanced over Sulahn?nehn wordlessly before turning toward the four gathered near the ranged targets and gesturing.

?Aurelius. With me.?

He moved briskly back into the fortress to prepare, but was mounted and ready to leave by the time the rest of his team returned to the courtyard. He didn?t look as uncertain now as he had the day before, perhaps because he had seen the newest Wardens in action.

Nodding to the others, Diocles went to his own mount. Luckily he was already prepared for battle-Though he could have used more to eat.

Of course they needed to mount up. Why she ever thought there would be a moment to take a breath after training was beyond her. She was pleased Thaedrin kept his mouth shut, but not as pleased as she would have been if the mage hadn't stopped to eye her.

Sulahn'nehn rushed off with the others, searching for a harness for her staff. She wanted to make sure she had everything in order just in case she ended up shot again wherever they were headed. Once she'd gotten herself settled, she joined the others, ready to ride.

Following orders, Ulrin quickly found a stead for himself. As he settled onto his horse he nodded to Sulahn'nehn, glad to see it appeared as if she had some rest.
