Diocles' eyes went wide-Not at the slap, that was expected-but at what Thaedrin attempted next. He couldn't rouse the barbarian, not now! Komnenos darted forward to come up behind the mage. His right arm lashed out to grab Thaedrin's wrist while his left wrapped around the mages neck, cutting into his windpipe-Though not completely. He pulled Thaedrin back from the door, whispering in the mage's ear.

"You blighted idiot, I won't let you kill me. I have to admit, though-That was a pretty funny comeback."

Thaedrin's shout of alarm was suppressed before it left his lips, his free hand clawing at the arm around his throat. Though the archer might not have won a test of strength versus the warriors on the ship, he was more than a match for the aristocrat. 'Magic. Possession.' The kukri twisted uselessly in his grip, unable to find flesh to cut. Diocles' blood would make just as potent a sacrifice--the idea of stabbing him repeatedly was wildly appealing, but no matter how he strained or bucked against him, he couldn't break the man's hold. His left elbow came up instead and jammed itself backward into ribs.

Diocles grunted softly, but he didn't let go. He tightened his grip on the mage, pressing up closer to keep the mage from pulling his arm ahead to do that again. The archer pulled Thaedrin further away, trying to figure out how to save the situation.

"Look.. I don't want anyone to die. Just.. Swear to let this go, and I'll let you go. If you're willing, just... Snap your fingers."

Thaedrin jerked in his grip at the words; his knee came up and his left boot stomped down hard on Diocles' foot as an answer.

Diocles grimaced, clenching his teeth to avoid making too much noise. The raging archer was done playing nice. He jerked hard into Thaedrin's neck to leave the mage breathless before releasing him, dodging around and slamming him up against the wall. In an instant he had his full weight leaning into his forearm, which itself had Thaedrin's neck pinned to the wall. His right hand went for the dull side of the kukri, attempting to retrieve the blade.

He stared into Thaedrin's eyes murderously.

His attempts to retain control of the blade led to it fumbling right out of his weakening fingers, the kukri clattering to the floor. Thaedrin's free hand once again pawed at the arm crushing his throat, then grasping at the archer's hair. He could barely get a gasp out, harsh and shuddering with the effort. The locks slipped against his gloved fingers like silk, but he found a grip and pulled sharply. What happened next might as well have been an attack, for it went right through Diocles' guard.

Suddenly, the mage had his mouth pressed to the other man's, warm but forceful, all lips and tongue and teeth.

Diocles' reaction was just instinct and habit, of course. With a history like his, it was only natural to reciprocate automatically, especially in such a tense, high energy situation. It was purely mechanical, with no underlying desires or passions.

In time, he might even convince himself to believe that.

For now his grip weakened, releasing the pressure on the mage's throat, though he still didn't release Thaedrin entirely. It seemed a long few moments before he remembered to be disgusted. He pulled back, breathing heavily.

"..Bastard."

Thaedrin remained against the wall a moment; he was still quivering from the excitement of the altercation. As he stood there, disheveled and gasping for breath, he was watching Diocles with a predatory intent. When he finally pushed off of the wood to stand, the mage had collected himself to his usual calmness.

"My cabin," he murmured, just barely on the edge of hearing, "in five minutes."

Diocles was left alone in the corridor.

Diocles leaned against the wall, trying to think straight. Could he do this to Sul? Did they really have a chance at something.. permanent? On the other hand, what if he did stay true to her. Would Thaedrin expose him to Alrik for retribution out of spite alone? It was certainly his style. Most importantly, what did he even want?

He couldn't answer any of these questions. He knew one thing, though. Alrik, Thaedrin, Ghil, Sul, Ulrin.. Someone was going to stab him. He might as well stab first.

He followed after Thaedrin, only hesitating three times along the way.

He must be punished. Never forgiven. He will be the end of you. The end of your friends. Punish him.

Sulahn?nehn?s eyes opened. Her sleep had been nothingness, all that there was in the blackness were words. Words that she heard again and again. They compelled her to get out of her hammock and gather up her things. Having no trouble seeing in the dark, she glanced back to confirm that Ghil still slept and tip toed out of the cabin.

The downside was, she?d gone to rest before the lot of them and had no idea which door Ulrin was behind. Was he alone or would he be with the other males? Though she had legitimate concerns about waking the Wardens, she moved quietly, but deliberately. She paused only briefly outside a door and held her breath as she slowly opened it enough to slip in. The first one was empty, but the next contained exactly what she was looking for, sans a body or two which seemed a little odd. More reason to have an extra set of eyes. Sulahn?nehn kept as quiet as she possibly could and placed one hand over Ulrin?s mouth and one finger in front of her lips. ?It is time.? She whispered.

The moment the female elf covered his mouth, Ulrin's eyes opened. He turned his head and simply nodded in response to her. So tonight was the night. He supposed sooner was better than later. Slowly Ulrin rose not wanting to wake the other males. He didn't brother to lookb around and realize Diocles was gone. "Lead the way, my sister," he spoke to her in a low voice.

Lead was probably a poor word choice, to her; it implied that she knew where she was going. There were only so many places Thaedrin could be on the ship, but she?d never been on one before. There was no reference for where he might be located, not to mention that there might be crew wandering the halls.

After a bit of walking it dawned on her that it would make the most sense for a man such Thaedrin to put himself in the largest cabin available. Of course he would, why wouldn?t he? Sulahn?nehn entered an area that seemed to dead end into a door. It must be what she was looking for. She turned to Ulrin and spoke in hushed tones. ?I need you to make sure no one else makes it here. Should you find someone.? She paused, chewing her lip in thought, ?And should you hear?trouble on my end, it would be in your best interest to hurry in the opposite direction.?

Tired and incredibly guilty, Diocles emerged from Thaedrin's cabin with the look of a lame mabari. His vision obscured by darkness and distraction, he almost walked right into the plotting elves.

"S-Sul?! What are you doing here?"

Despite the quiet and the size of her ears, Sulahn'nehn did not hear the door open or Diocles until he was right on top of them. Her heart nearly stopped in her chest. "Dio- what are you- it's very late, why are you here?"

An accomplished troublemaker, Diocles' subconcious was ready with a retort that flowed from his tongue before he even thought of it. Canny, suave, and brilliant in its simplicity.

"Well, I-I asked you first."

He eyed Ulrin almost sheepishly. Maybe he should just get the other rogue to stab him to death and be done with it.

"I-" It was a simple enough question, but she had not eexpected it. "I do not like how things are handled and I have something to say to the Constable. Quite a bit. What are you doing here so late?"

She eyed the archer not with suspicion, but confusion.

"Hm. Well. I felt the same, and he and I have just finished quite the vigorous debate on the subject.. Hopefully it will lead to some improvements."

Diocles didn't move just yet, watching Sul quite closely. Should he just go?

"That is absolutely fantastic, lath." Her enthusiasm was lacking. Thaedrin was awake and that ruined the plan. She looked to Ulrin, "We'll have to speak to him later. I think he still needs to hear it from an elf."

"I will leave you two to it, then. Ah, good luck."

Diocles stalked off, his expression falling apart as soon as his face was beyond their sight.

Ulrin watched the two exchange their surprise and supposed reasons for being in the hall with mixed speculation. As the human passed them, he continued to peer at the man's back before turning to Sulahn'nehn. "...Something is wrong. Your Diocles is usually boastful and proud. He did not have that usual mockery in his tone. I do not think his defense of you was successful."

He looked back around her down to the door, "At any rate, the Blighter is now awake. We swill have to try again."
