"Modern" isn't the word I would use to describe it. It looks about the equivalent of the very early 1900's. Modern by avatar standards but pretty ancient by ours.viranimus said:Well I WAS excited about it when I still thought it was the Avatar based Steampunk-esque project that was supposed to be worked on, but in seeing the video and seeing its modern buildings and structures and civilization it really sort of puts me off of the idea.
However I say that, but if the writing is as good as TLA was... then it really wont matter and I will watch it without question.

I kept up with news about the series pretty well, I think, and I don't recall them specifying just how "modern" they meant when they were mentioning the "modern" city. You sure it's not just conjecture on your part?viranimus said::ShrugJack the Potato said:"Modern" isn't the word I would use to describe it. It looks about the equivalent of the very early 1900's. Well, I wouldnt consider 100 years ancient by any measure. And looking at section from the OP video at 0:53 you get to see a wide open multi lane intersection in the middle of 4 multi story buildings. and at 0:58 you see a truck that looks roughly about a 1950s era model.
Perhaps thats not exactly modern, but its much more modern than the Restoration to victorian-esque steampunk incarnation that was presented when the news of this series first began.
My point for bringing it up is that again, as I said in my first post. Originally it was presented as a steam punk fueled world. Steampunk era typically refers to pre second Elizabethan, Victorian era level technology that reflects a technological aesthetic of the time before the turn of the century. Technological advents such as motor vehicles and skyscrapers were innovations of the second Elizabethan era of which we are still technically in.vansau said:Ref'd article and quote
That was rather fitting, I'm glad.starwarsgeek said:No, but there is an appropriate youtube video.Cavouku said:I would type what I'm actually saying right now, but I don't think there's a setting on my keyboard for overjoyed gargling sounds.
