By a good movie/book, not sex or drugs. I'll leave this as my first and only warning.

By "Your Mind being Blown," I mean a movie/book that had you so enthralled, so interested, so In To the movie, that your whole mind went out-off whack because of it.

I bring this up because yesterday me and my girlfriend watched Fight Club yesterday.

SWEET JESUS, FUCKING CHUCK NORRIS AWESOME!!!

Afterward, I was left with a familiar feeling I get after reading a good book or getting into a really good movie. I was completely blown by the movie, mind still reeling, giddy and excited, unable to concentrate on anything because my mind was still in the movie.

While this was happening to me, I saw my girlfriend had a blank stare in her eyes. I asked her if she liked the movie. "Yeah, that was the first good movie I've seen." she said in awe.

It turned out that she has seen other good movies, but Fight Club was the first one she was able to watch all the way through without interruption.

She then told me she couldn't feel any emotions. No sadness, no joy, nothing. She just sat their, vacant eyed. When I held her, she was shaking and started to cry.
I was eventually able to get her back down to earth with some bad jokes, though she still wants to get some more "Mind Blowing" movies to watch.

SO, this rambling story leads to my question:
What was the first movie (or book) that you read that really sucked you into the plot and characters, so much that you were left almost vacant afterward, almost like your soul was still in the movie...
or if you have had a similar, less dramatic feeling, do share.

This happened to me in a couple of scenes in the "Prince of Egypt", but I was a kid back then...

When I was eight, and I watched the Original Trilogy of Star Wars for the first time ever.

As for books, probably when I finished the Lord of the Rings for the first time, when I was eleven.

The sword of truth series (by terry goodkind) i get the feeling every time, the intensity varies between books (there are 11 of them after all o_O ) but when i put the book down i can't focus on anything else for awhile.

The Beach by Alex Garland. One hell of a book, still not fully sure what it is about and I have read it 5 times.

Also, The War of The Worlds by H.G. Wells. The bit when he sees the tri-pod in the lighting storm! Fantastic! Amazing to think it was written in 1898

Well, there is this one telepathic hooker named Betsy who hangs out down by the docks at 4chan, and she...oh, wait...by books? Oohhhhh...then I'd say The Stand by Steven King. It was a great book, and I actually got to write a paper on his works a few years ago.
Also, Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis and The Goon by Eric Powell were incredible comic books.

I had the entire prayer memorized at one point. Such a great movie.

Donnie Darko is also a pretty trippy movie.

I can't remember. Possibly reading Lord of the Rings for the first time, I can't recall it happening to me before then.

Finally, someone else who's read the book. I can't count the number of blank stares I get whenever I mention it.
