Yes! This right here, my first game was probably the Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog, though it could also be Alex Kidd in Miracle World or even Sonic 3 (my favourite game ever), I can't really recall that dark and murky time of my life where I didn't even know of Nintendo.
I played on the Sega Genesis. I didn't get to actually join the Nintendo world until the N64 era. My cousin had an NES and SNES, but I wouldn't have my first Nintendo console until N64. My parents enjoyed their Sega Genesis and Sega CD. :p But I remember quite vividly watching in awe, my grandma beating the shit outta Sonic the Hedgehog, with all 7 chaos emeralds.

The very fist game I played is probably Sonic The Hedgedog... Or at least thats the first one I remember playing.

Then a couple of not very well know games and a few that are in the PS1 era, then Super Mario Brothers (I got it backwards lol), and the rest is history.

6, there are 6 chaos emeralds in Sonic the Hedgehog, the seventh was added in Sonic 2 :D Such a feat of completion was unimaginable to me as a small child though.

I never had a NIntendo console until my second hand gamecube after the Wii was already out, I'd wanted a Gamecube over a PS2 though because of Sonic games being on the Gamecube at the time.

A 2D sidescroller called Xargon. It may not have been the very first one, but the oldest I remember. Love it to death. There was also a 2-level sidescroller game where you played a red squirrel jumping on romans to get pizza ingredients at the end, but I forgot the name.
It's amazing that on youtube, below every Xargon video, half the comments say this was their first game ever, and what fond memories they have, just like me.

The music is so damn awesome. It was fun, challenging and imaginative, yet somewhat dark at parts. Not because of gore, just through the music and design. Each level transported so much mood and character to you.
I didn't know any English back then, nor could I type or write, and it only ran on DOS. Still managed to start it. But since it was shareware and we had no means to buy the rest, I only ever had the first third.

Years ago, I found DOSbox and got to play the full game, minus the awesome music. Breezed through it in one nostalgic afternoon. Hell yes!

Probably Combat on the Atari 2600. I don't know if I'd played arcade games before that or not; it's the earliest one I can remember.

First game I played was Super Mario Land II. Then again, it was for about 6 seconds before I died and the person who owned the Game Boy took it back. Still remember the exact section. My first few glorious seconds of gaming. I guess the first game I properly played, as in owned it and played it for a long time was Pokemon Blue. My mother tells me I learned to read through that game.

Not sure what it was called, but my Dad had a computer (think it was an IBM clone) and we used to play some text based adventure game on it. Can't remember what it was, but you had to escape from some sort of maze.

Earliest ones I can remember would have been on the Spectrum. I remember Gregory Loses his Clock, Streaker, Renegade and one of the Dizzy games. My friend had a C64, we used to play Paperboy on that.

First console game was I think SMB3. I came to consoles fairly late, and I remember getting the game for Christmas off a relative. Trouble was I got that present before Christmas day, and my main present was the console itself so I had to wait. It was bloody torture, hard to explain what an event it was when that game came out. I remember the console was second hand and it came with Zelda, SMB1/Duck Hunt, SMB2, Robocop and The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Bliss.

Remember me and my cousins going mad for Double Dragon in the arcade as well, might have been earlier.

Wolfenstein 3D - still play every now and then when feeling nostalgic, because it's still fun and also a reminder of what got me interested in videogames. Own a copy on Steam as well as the 360 version (using a controller instead of a keyboard and playing it on a 50" screen feels weird).

My first game was Tekken 3 (90's FTW!!!). However, I didn't grow up with a console at home. I had to go over to my aunt's apartment to play it. She didn't have a memory card, so until I got a PS2 and a PS1 memory card, I had to unlock all the characters over-and-over again. I didn't get Dr. Bosconovitch, though. I probably never will, either, because Tekken 3's Tekken Force mode can kiss the darkest part of my ass!

My first game ever was StarTropics for the NES. I loved it, and I love it still. I am especially fond of the music. Even today I randomly catch myself whistling or humming the tunes.
Did you ever play Zodar's Revenge? Those games were the BIGGEST Zelda worship. They even had matching title screens I think.
I played it years later on a NES emulator. I remember enjoying it, but not enjoying it as much as the first one. Could've just been because StarTropics had many years of being special before I even heard they made a sequel.

When I was about 2 I would play doom 2 with my grandfather. I don't remember if it was the first though. I know that I also played Super Mario World and Killer Instinct with my mom (she would kick my butt with Spinal). So it was one of those games.

Oh, I remember all right.
I must have been 5 or 6 years old, when I got an NES for my birthday. My parents bought some games with it; Dr. Mario, Solstice and Kabuki Quantum Fighter. The console itself came with Mario/Duckhunt.

We played Quantum Fighter first, because look at the box:

A fun action plat former, where you have to go into the computer world to destroy a virus that has taken control of the world's nuclear weapons. Also you are a Kabuki dancer in the computer world, and you fight with your hair.

It was a weird game, and the stages were the weirdest of all. High Tech mixed with ancient ruins mixed with weird organic components.
Weird things are fun for a kid.

not too sure... Pac Man and Pong were around, of course. But my memory is telling me something like...

I very well remember the first game which sucked up insane amounts of my time:
