Wow, looking at all the responses, it looks like average age of Escapist visitors is much higher than I imagined. What do you know...
Well maybe the older are just more vocal about it.
Maybe that... I believe there was an age survey somewhere on Off-topic forums...

I think my first game was either MK3 or Sonic CD. I loved both of them, but I couldn't beat that prick Shao Kahn.

I cannot for the live of me remember the first game I have ever played. Though my earliest memories were spent playing games on the NES. I think it might have been Duck Hunt or the original Mario.

Like a few other Sonic The Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive when I was about 2 or 3.

Didn't complete it all the stages until a couple years later though. I either gave up at the end of Spring Yard or level selected to Star Light Zone because the drowning music on Labyrinth Zone scared the absolute shit out of me at that age.

Hell, still frightens me a little today.

The first i can clearly remember is solar striker on an original gameboy
though i probably played pong or something like it before.
I still got an working module and an gameboy advance sp to play it
but i never managed to beat it, i think one of my brothers made it to the final boss
once and was horribly murdered.

The Playroom, an edutainment title back in the early 90s. I played it on my grandfather's Mac Plus. Later, I got the Lemmings, and have been a gamer ever since.

Good old Pacman, on the Amiga 500. Many memories with that computer... Alien Breed, Zool, Exile, Traps and Treasures and many more, but my Dad introduced me to Pacman as my first game, the rest is history!

Crap wish I could remember! It a toss up between The Super Mario Bros./Duck hunt cart, Super Mario World, or Sonic the Hedgehog, one of those three.

And yes I do remember one of the sonic commercials, Guy trying to sell an off screen kid a SNES and super mario world but he wants the genesis. Genesis and Sonic the hedgehog, its a whole lot more For Less! Oh the good old days when the competition had enough ball to take direct shots at each other.

Uh...I think it was the first Mario game on the original Nintendo. I don't remember playing it as my first game, though. The first game I remember, which was my favorite for a long time, was Bubble Bobble.

The story of how Mario was my first game is kind of cute, actually. My mom and dad had just bought it and the original Nintendo and would play Mario taking turns during the weekends and ordering pizza. I was super little at this time, probably 3 or 4. I would always watch them, but any time they offered me the paddle, I'd run away screaming down the hall. This happened for probably 3 months. 3 months of me just watching them every weekend. Well, one day, they woke up and found me already up, playing the game. And quite well, too, from what I hear.

Either my grandparents PS1 WipeOut (Which they got for me and my cousins at their house when it first came out), or Alien Invaders on a Nes/SNES/some cartridge console before I was born my parents had and found in the attic of our old house as a kid. One of the two, I'm not sure what happened first.

Honestly, I can't remember which exactly, but it was something on SNES. Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, or Sim City.

Spyro 2 Season of flame on the gameboy advance. I have actually just recently dug up my old gameboy though I dont have most of the games I used to. Ive actually been trying to find a copy of this, along with a plethora of other games.

It was a fun adventurey puzzley action game that I would love to play again.
