I don't know, I was playing Halo (3 possibly) on XBox Live a long time ago and got absolutely caned by this guy. He took the time out to give me some advice to try and help me, which was nice.

However just about everywhere else it's nothing but hollering morons 'trash talking' down the shitty standard XBox mics, most often in a southern drawl, and me not able to understand a word they're saying. I just ignore them and get on with things.

But one comment, Americans, trash talk is not necessary, it does not affect good players, it simply drags the experience down and makes you even more hated.

I always mute everyone on Halo online. The easiest way to avoid a bad community.

Maybe you should try the same? I haven't had any hate mail either.

No, most won't spend time to send a message to tell you that. But that's on PSN, if it was XBL they'd just shout at you.

It'll happen with every game, I just find it's different depending on what you're playing on.

It's an unwritten rule that if you play FPS online, you have to act like an antisocial asshole, who would like to "swing teh b4nhammer at teh n00bz0rs!". Why, it beats me.

Oh well, it's a common thing. Most people tend to live in their own little bubble. Here is a funny tale that happened to me today, in team fortress:

Was playing as an attacking heavy on a payload map. There was this scout on defense, who got shredded multiple times by my minigun and keep raging about that in the chat. Calling it "bugged". When I dominated him, he challenged me to a duel. I thought it was stupid and childish and denied. Was busy pushing the cart anyway. So I move around this corner, get bodyshot by a sniper and ignited by a pyro. The scout jumps from a nearby roof and shoots me, gets the killing blow.

"Die *****" comes throught the chat.

Sometimes I like to pretend that these people are roleplaying as some kind of comic internet-dickhead.

Lol ...

You know what's the most bizarre TF2 story I've ever heard?
Someone was screaming at his teammate for not getting any kills.
...
Medic.

To be fair: Team Fortress 2 acutally has a pretty good community in average. Sure there are dickheads. But of the 32 players on one server, there are usually just two assholes. A friend of mine plays call of duty, where the ratio seems to be reversed.

Alright, here's another interesting question. It falls under the same category, so I don't feel making another thread is necessary, but here goes:

Is it normal for the "Faction" that would be considered the "Rebels" or "Terrorists" to be more populated/skilled in online game? I know in MAG that SVER always wins...everything. In fact, my faction (Valor), who's the traditional "American Army" faction seems to lose everything, which irks me when I'm doing well. I have proof; look at the online tallies.

Also, If I'm not happy with my current faction should I delete my current character and swap over to another one?
