well du I hate when someone tells me that and is expecting me to be surprised it is over 500th years old has to be bought by people who go to school and I the book of the largest world religion why the hell wouldn't it be the worlds most sold book?

OT: The escapist isn't the only website that is mostly made of smart, reasonable people.
It's far, far older than fivehundred years old, but thanks for your imput. Even as a book, it existed way before Gutenberg decided to put it into print.
I meant to say 5000 I think I some how did partially 5thousand and 5000 put yea it's old nearly as old as your mom
Fivethousand is about as hilarious as your "blah blah blah your mom" reply. Think about it; When did Christ die (or so we assume)?
The bible as we know it came to be a few centuries after that, at a church-summit which I CBA to find the date for right now.
well the old testament a foundation for many religions is about 5000 years old the new testament used by Christians and now has to be part of the new bible is about 1961 years old ( -30 for how long Jesus lived and then it took 50 years to be written down).
The new Testament wasn't written right at the time of the death of Christ. There were several gospels circulating, and only at the church-summit I mentioned did they decided on the current four gospels being canon in NT.

There are plants that do not photosynthetise. They are white due to the absence of chlorophyll, and are parasitic. Vampires, essentially. I'd love yo keep one, but it's probably very difficult and unethical.

Also, Richard Dawkins reckons that, had humans evolved to be octadigital (eight-fingered), computers would have been developed centuries ago due to an innate grasp of binary.

The corpus callosum (the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres) is low bandwidth. Think of it like 10BastT ethernet while the rest of your brain runs on gigabit.

However, your speech and hearing processors are on opposite sides of the brain, which can be used as an alternate channel to transmit data.

Thus in an emergency, when the signals across the brain overload, people will shout out orders to themselves. A person might shout to get a fire extinguisher, then run over and pick it up.

Here's something I found interesting. Alot of today's medical knowledge comes from the experiments done on Jews in Nazi concentration camps, because no-one had performed these experiments before or (hopefully) ever will again.
There's a lot to say on this subject. The most interesting fact they found regarded hypothermia - leaving their subjects naked outside in the cold and measuring how long they survived.

As far as this topic - Cecil Adam's feature The Straigt Dope is the best source of trivia I've found. Check him out here - http://www.straightdope.com/. From there ... http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/789/are-social-security-numbers-recycled - Here's where your social security number came from.

Blue whales let loose approximately 400 gallons of sperm each time they ejaculate.

Only 10% of that amount reaches a mate. So the other 360 gallons are left in the sea.
ah, one more reason for me to not swim in the ocean.

It has been 2011 years since the birth of Christ then he died around the age of 30 so 1981 then it took 50 years before the gospels were written down so 1931...huuu must have made a miss calculation in my first estimated but yea the original bible (just old testament is 5000 years old) and the new bible (Christian book which includes the old testament and new testament) is about 1931 years old.

During the 1950's, the US military conducted experiments to test the potential of germs as a weapon by spraying harmless bacteria on US cities including San Fransisco and Minneapolis to see how widespread the bacteria would go and for how long they would remain active. They told city councillors that the spray was a "smokescreen test" for protecting the city from radar detection in the event of a nuclear strike by the Soviet Union.

The US military also experimented with the possibility of using LSD and other psychochemicals as a weapon against enemy troops. Among the many effects of three selected drugs on a group of 159 'normal enlisted men' were: '...a failure to distinguish between objects and persons... one subject atempted to take a casual bite from the doctor's forearm, while another apologised to the drinking fountain when he bumped into it... one man tried to write his name on a piece of chicken with a ball point pen, and another tried to leave the room through the medicine cabinet'.
Source: "A Higher Form of Killing: The Secret Story of Chemical and Biological Warfare" By Robert Harris and Jeremy Paxman. An excellent read!

Slightly more Fun Fact: You can walk on custard, but if you stop moving you will sink into it.

First off: Even if all the gospels were written 50 years after the death of christ, which they were not (some were written over hundred years after), it wouldn't have made it the Bible we have today.
Second: The Old Testament isn't 5000 years old. Closer to 4000. Most of it refers to things that happened after the Exodus (second book), and that is nowhere near 3000 BC. True, some of the stories were oral-traditions before..

most were written down about 50-100 years after Jesus died (doing R.E. GCSE because I have to and that's what we are thought) and I may be getting confused by the fact creationists always say the earth is 5000 years old.

Yeah, but what the Creationists say (and they say it's 6.700ish as far as I know) and when the bible was written are two wholly different things ^^

The arteries of the blue whale are so large in diameter that an adult leopard can crawl through them.

You use cold water to clean up blood stains. Hot water only makes them set.

I think it's best not to ask how you learned that.

OT: In Tanzania's national parks, you can't go hang-gliding because animals mistake the hang-glider for a vulture and stampede. Also, the Johnny Cash song 'A Boy Named Sue' was actually written by Shel Silverstein.

Oh, and on a side note, the Captcha just displayed a few untypeable symbols.

The original Bible was a compilation of books in Hebrew and Greek, which eventually become compiled into a single Latin book called the Vulgate, written in about 400AD by Saint Jerome. Most if not all modern translations are descendant from the Vulgate.

No black person can swim because there bones are heavier than white peoples.

All the fastest athletes are black because they had to out run tigers while living in the forest.

Black people are always cold no matter what the weather. So you will only ever see them in hoodies.

All black people carry knives.

Romanians wipe there ass using there hand.

All asian people are computer experts.

There are more but thats all I can think of for now.

Ducks put themselves under a lot of strain to fly. In fact in some weaker ducks (or older ones) they can get a heart attack from the strain and die either because of the attack or the impact to the ground...Just sayin'
