Hey there Escapists! I was just wondering how far you have traveled, in one trip, away from your current residence on your own.

My record is 3252km. I went on a rather lengthy and personal pilgrimage to San Fransisco last September all by my lonesome (and didn't get to meet ANY Escapists while doing it! D:) and had a good time even though it was 18 hours of driving without stopping.[footnote]To head down South I mean. I took my time coming back.[/footnote]

I love travel. If gas was less expensive, I would do it far more often.

So, what are your longest trips?

Mine is a bit over 6,000 miles, from Los Angeles, California to Venice, Italy but I don't think it really counts since it was a plane trip and I was meeting people upon landing so while I was alone during the flight I was not alone on the actual trip.

As far as just going somewhere alone that doesn't really happen for me that often. If I go somewhere far it's usually because I'm going somewhere with my friends or family (because I'm lazy and usually need someone else to prompt me to go somewhere), so in that case the furthest I've driven by myself was probably 300 miles or so.

I went to Boston and I am a resident of Pittsburgh. Dunno how far that is, overall.

If we're counting plane journeys, 5,437 miles from Los Angeles to London by myself in 2012 when I was returning from several months working in the States. I was with other people until the plane journey, however.

While I don't know the exact distance but the train ride was 3 hours, the longest I have been on a train ride. I went that long just to go to a job interview and needless to day I was pressure into it. It was just that a relative had a few vacanices at the place he worked at and my family all think it was good oppertunity (not for me since I had to worry about the living arrangement, travel and spending cost).
I was pretty much unfit when the interview started (lack or sleep and didn't pratice properly) and I head back home and it was not suprising I didn't get the job.

Completely alone?
Or does, say, hitchhiking around Europe with a friend count?

If the former, not that far - probably 300km or something.
If the latter counts, a few thousand km around UK, France, and the Iberian Peninsula. No idea on exactly how far because we didn't exactly go in a straight line!

Manchester Airport to Adelaide Airport. I think I win. It depends, do I have to be on my own at the destination, or does just travelling alone count, because I did immediately meet up with relatives.

I went to China from UK to live there for a few months. And I'll be doing so again this year.

I went from the midwestern United States out to Secaucus, New Jersey for BronyCon 2012. Spent over two grand in total for it, but I still don't regret it one bit.

I've go from the northern part of Toronto to downtown on a regular basis for school, but I've never traveled farther on my own. I'm not much of a traveler, honestly; I don't like going very far from home, and I don't drive so I wouldn't really be able to leave the city even if I wanted to.

Probably a 45 minute drive. My mom was going on a vacation with my grandma, aunt and cousin and she needed me to drive the pickup back home. I drove in a straight line the whole way.

Probably driving to my grandpa's house on the other side of town, so a couple miles I guess. I don't like traveling that much, especially if I don't know were I'm going and how to get there. Hell, I hate going downtown by myself because I get lost.

I used to make trips from Chicago to Singapore and back alone a couple of times a year.
It goes through either Japan or Hong Kong.

Trips don't get much further than that.

Kaunas(Lithuania) to London Stansted.

There were a few complications involving my family, and I was the only one who could fly back at the time(more like I had to, considering sixth form).

So the entire plane ride, I was by myself, which doesn't sound amazing, but to me it was quite something, as I have acrophobia.

I travelled alone on an aircraft from China to England once, for nearly twelve hours. It was a sad experience, because the journey marked the beginning of several years in an alien land with unfamiliar and often disagreeable people. It was raining at both the location I left and the one I arrived at.

Southampton to Crewe (around 200 miles), yeah so not that far, but it's the furthest I've been on my own.

Having money is more important than being able to drive. I've never has a license to drive on my own, hasn't stopped me from travelling from Ontario to BC and everywhere in between more than once, and I spent a month in New Zealand. Buses and planes are there for a reason.

Not much that can be done if you don't like going far from home though ;)

From Mar del Plata, Argentina to Berlin - 12175 KM, or 7566 miles (that was with my sister though)
From Buenos Aires, Argentina to New York - 8537 KM, or 5305 miles (that one was completely alone)
