Do not worry!

In the future, I will be a game designer, and once Im into the idustry, games like Bioshock, Assassins Creed, Fallout 3, Dead Space, <insert more 1-player games with great story and gameplay here> will be made!

Or I'll blow up the White House, so they'll have to give into my demands.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA -*cough cough*- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Sure, so what do you think about the future of gaming?
I think it will be rather boring, really. Til I get my job. Ofcourse.

I'll have to agree, the main reason why I quit playing Left 4 Dead is because every are, as you said, "snail brained 12 year-olds".
I'm glad I'm not the only one who experienced this here because I was beginning to think I'm the only one who experienced this.

One word of advice. DON'T WATCH THE BONUS ROUND.

It's usually filled with morons who think they speak for all the gamers out there.

But I am affraid that the single-player experience as we know it will disapear. Except maybe for RPG's.
Well, I don't watch that show a lot. But the title and summary made me watch it now.
Yeah, It'll take a little longer for single player RPG's to dissapear. I know a person who's gonna be really pissed then xD.
I kinda figure this is gonna be my last generation. I still love games and I'm looking forward to a couple beauties, but I hate where the industry is going. The blockbusters are going to collapse under the weight of their budgets. And the market will be flooded with casual nic nac games.

i think you should try to adapt to the annoyance of MP
as an example:
when i play CoD over XBL, without any 'friends' i make sure to have a kit made purely for stealth, and merely sneak around MGS-style, picking off fools, and convince myself that i am playing a game with kickass AI, but some other issues (lag...)
its pretty fun.

also, i have several freinds who only have acess to dial-up, which you cannot really use for gaming now, or very laggy sattelite or LoS cell-tower connection, with only 117kb/s.

I find it very hard to believe that single player campaigns will ever be removed. Even if they are removed for a time, there will still be those who are smart enough to seize the opportunity and benefit from the lack of single player gaming. Ideas never run out due to the fact that they are renewable most of the time.

Maybe you can 'adapt' to the retardedness of the multiplayer realm... but many people, including myself, can't. Why? Because you shouldn't play a game you don't like. I mean, it's self-explanatory.

You have a point there...

Do what I did, find a good community of serious gamers that you play with all the time and you're set. The community I'm a part of mainly plays TF2 (which is how I discovered them) and Left 4 Dead. I consider them all friends now. Dawwww.

I will say that your concerns are both right and wrong.

Right for the fact that yes, games like L4D and the like are becoming more and more popular and we will undoubtedly see more of them in the future. Which will undoubtedly have a majority of stupid people much like it is today.

Wrong because a rise in genre doesn't mean there will be an extinction of another.

I really can't see why developers would limit the options available to them. It would be as if all gum makers decided to only make one kind of gum flavor. Then a lot of people would stop chewing gum and use mints. Basically less variety causes death of industry.

True you bring up good points, but all you need to do is find some friends and stick with them.

When I play Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 I always play with friends.

When i play Resistance it doesn't acually matter if my teammates are good or stupid because the medic gets all the healing points.

And I enjoy CO-OP, I want it in MORE games, I don't really like playing me vs you, i like playing, me and you go here and stick to the well crafted plan.

The rise of one kind of game doesn't exclude another. Even in the impossible outcome that big time developers stop making singleplayer games, small time developers will do so and then hit it big.

Ah yes, this is what gaming communities/clans/organizations are for. They're like safe havens in the wasteland of yelling kids and trolls. Really, just search for one online and get together with some peeps. Honestly its all thanks to the fact that players only interested in messing around don't usually want to take the time to fill out their information. For me, my first clans were on here: http://www.darkjedi.org/
Albeit a group like them may be a bit too structured for what you want (although I don't mean to put words in your keyboard). The point I'm getting at is, stop for a second and search for those people. It ain't easy in real life to find people who are serious, so don't think it should be any easier online.

Getting back to your question about *in booming voice* "The Future of Gaming", I think Singleplayer will never completely fade away because there will always be a market of people interested in it. You don't think you're the only one who prefers singleplayer right?

Thats exactly what I would like to have in future games but I think finding the serious people for it will be very hard.
