Morrowind was my favorite. The buildings for some reason reminded me of Myst, Riven, and the other games in that series, which is just great. It was weird, it was different; the shrines for the "bad" daedra were downright awesome and truly eerie, the sea of ghosts was nerve wracking, and those areas where you could hear whispering in dungeons and fortresses with cultists in them still give me shivers.

Morrowind could go from quirky to creepy to fantastical all in a matter of minutes; that's why I still play it after I've been everywhere and done almost everything-because it's a game world unlike any other.

And the Vampirism system was awesome.

After all the areas have been used, that should be it. They could create a new world with a bunch of different regions.
If only there were other continents on Nirn then Tamriel maybe something to the east! We could call it Akaviri after the Akavir and have it populated by monkey people, dragon tiger people and vampiric snake people!

Or even a continent to the north and maybe we could call it Atmora and have it be the home of the Nedes that eventually travelled south to Tamriels to become the Nords and Bretons.

A thought occurs. What if the next Elder Scrolls game is set... in Cyrodil? Cyrodil... back in time! Personally, I love reading all the books and finding all the history and lore. Who's to say YOU (or at least your PC) didn't do some of that?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell you that your opinion is wrong or anything, but... why do you find jungles boring?

I would love to explore a world that looked like that, especially if Bethesda tossed in some ridiculously colorful plants while they were at it. Plus, Valenwood is a jungle with FLOATING TREES. If that isn't visually interesting, what is?

I have to agree with you on the desert thing, though. Mountains are the only way they could spice up the desert plains while keeping it a desert, and you can only do so much with brown mountains.
It's not that I find jungles boring but, have you ever been to a jungle? It's hot, muggy, bug-infested, disease ridden, and just way too full of things like trees and animals for me to actually like it.

Again, I'm getting the impression that I just get way too involved in settings.

Good points though, you paint a pretty picture.

I think that the only way that Bethesda is ever going to tap into their real creative consciousness is to visit another realm of oblivion. Morrowind had some of the most interesting and engrossing places, people, and cultures to visit. Talking to NPCs was like reading one of the greatest fantasy books ever written. Oblivion was pretty normal, but the expansion pack The Shivering Isles, brought a lot of the true wit and creativity that The Elder Scrolls has to offer, and was a pleasure to explore. Skyrim doesn't really have any of that wierdness to it, they don't even feature the Skald and the culture just didn't have much of vibe to it, it was mostly bad scandinavian accents.
This leads me to believe that the only way Bethesda will ever get their groove back is to visit another daedric realm. Those daedric princes are the last cool thing about the elder scrolls, ever since they took out the warring houses of Vvardenfell, the many competing guilds, and the idea of man becoming a divine. Perhaps the Orcs could use some love, they have a rather sordid history, and their own daedric prince.
I completely agree with this. Skyrim is simply not sticking with me because it's just Scandinavia. Cyrodiil was a Rome cum Medieval Europe, so that's a bit of a step above creativity-wise, while Morrowind was something else entirely; Elven, tribal, otherworldly, religious and divine but down-to-earth all the same.

Either a daedric realm, or the much-maligned beast races that no humanoid ever trusts. Black Marsh, Elsweyr, maybe even Orsinium. Give me those, or give me Akavir. At least the Asian flair hinted at in Oblivion can open up the doors to some really interesting stylistic combinations. I never wanna explore human lands in Tamriel again. They are just boring as hell. Maybe I'll take one of the elven lands, but even then I feel like nothing's gonna touch the Dunmer culture and land in how utterly alien and interesting it is.

It will probably be Hammerfell. But I'd really like to see them make a game set in the entire Tamriel, or somewhere in Akavir. Akavir would be a nice change of continent. Like the post above me said, human provinces are boring. That's why Morrowind was awesome. Even if you played as a Dunmer in Morrowind you still felt like a stranger in a strange land. We need more of that. I love Skyrim, but human architecture is too familiar. It has to be somewhere in Akavir!

Most of the stuff we know about Akavir are actually misinterpretations of Tamriel folk. Which gives Bethesda a blank slate to make amazing new worlds.

I read a book in Skyrim called the mysterious Akavir and it mentions the 4 races in Akavir. They have snake men, I wanna say lion men. But I think it would be cool to see this in the next game.

So there's been Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. I think we all see the trend here, the obvious trend (I know) that all the game's maps are part of the world of Tamriel. But what game next? What map to be used next? After all maps have been used also (If the game somehow manages that many series) What will happen? Maybe a game that combines all maps and you may explore all areas in one huge game? I was just wondering on your opinions of the future of the Elder scrolls series.
Look up Tamriel for the full map.
In my opinion I think it will be Black Marsh. No reason, just a hunch.
Well the best thing about it is, at whatever point they get where they have basically made a game for each area, they could easily set new games in the same area, but at a different point in history (think of all those ruins you discover, imagine if they are now the main cities. Or the main cities are now ruins and new ones have been made). Updated graphics to the current gen at the time, other than the basic map, it would be a whole new game/world to explore.

but like many, my bet would be hammerfell.

True I would also like to see people that look, well not like people. More like Khajit and Argonian where they're pretty much alien in form instead of having mostly humans and elves to play as who really aren't too different from each other in look.

Logically if all the maps are used up in expansions and new games etc, then they will either all be compiled into one game probably an mmo, or bethesda will set out on an entirly new rpg, preferably in space or the "land of chocolate lesbians"
