The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, I cant tell you how many hours of my life were poured into that game, I got in more trouble playing it and not doing my homework then any other in my history. Great game, awesome cast (even Navi, once you tune her out), there is nothing better at all.

For me, it would have to be a tie with Halo: Combat Evolved and Age of Empires, with a close, CLOSE second with Morrowind. I know we only are supposed to have one game, but all three were instrumental in my tastes of games today. I enjoy rts games, FPS games that are pretty non-linear, and RPG games that have a world that's its own character.

I would say Warcraft II, hence my avatar. I still have vivid memories of the first time I saw the game at a friend's place, it was simply incredible. It also introduced me to the fantasy genre, and from there I went on to play Baldur's Gate (another big game of my childhood/teens) and read Lord of the Rings. And of course it introduced me to Blizzard, which is easily the company with the games I spent the most time in.
Kirby Fucking 64 Yeah! I fucking love Kirby 64! greatest game I ever played, first game I ever played, I play through it once every month and it just never loses its luster.
Sonic & Knuckles without a doubt. Not only was it my first game, but it was also the first game for me to go Super Sonic and get to the final level.

In all honesty, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the Kings video game, it was among the very, very first video games I specifically owned, I bought it with my own money and played it on a PS2 which I also bought myself just to play the LOTR licenced video games (Some of the ONLY licensed games I think deserve more then a first glance).
Me and my best friend sank hundreds of hours to this game we unlocked all the easter eggs together, we beat every level together. These were our favorite movies, and getting to play the game in co-op mode was some of the best fun we ever had together.

Whenever I want to break down and cry, I have Frog's theme on my mp3 player. Frog taught me more about being a hero and a good human being than most comics and literature. I swore to myself I'd have a friend like Robo someday... and I think my love of women in glasses stems from Lucca.LilithSlave said:
Chrono Trigger is my vote. If we want to get technical, Secret of Mana would also be there, but as amazing as that game is, it was amazing for the story and the game play and the music. I love the characters in Mana, but not as much as I could ever love the Chrono gang.
Soul Edge. Saw the intro on an arcade machine while my parents were at the pool hall, played it, whined at them to get me a PS1 so I could play it at home. Intro below.

First game I ever played. Crash Bandicoot. I was 2 years old. It took me about a week of having my dad play for me and failing to jump over the first hole in the game. But one day, I worked up the courage and I jumped over that hole. I haven't stopped playing games since.
Being the young whippersnapper I am I will say Tony Hawk Underground 1&2. When I picked them up again recently (because I played the discs to death) I remembered that they were actually very good.
