My first real game was Super Mario World or Final Fight on SNES, dont remember which was the first. But the games that really got me interested in video games and realize gaming could be something deep were RE2 and MGS1. The PSOne really hooked me to gaming.

Look back and find the game that made you realize you truly wanted more of the medium.
I used to have an Atari 2600 and my friend had a Commodore 64 and we used to play Pong, International Karate etc. It was fun but nothing special.
After that, my other friend got a NES and I got a taste of Contra. That was it, I think. It's still one of my favourites and still one of the best 2D shooters, I think.

I think the first game I ever played was Carnival on my parents' Colleco Vision.

The game that got me into PC gaming was the first PC game I ever played on our first PC, an IBM Aptivia Pentium 133mhz, Total Annihlation. It was such a standout experience at the time for me. I believe that was in 1996/very early 1997.

It'd have to be either the KoTOR games or Dawn of War Dark Crusade, since both had a plethora of mods available, I started surfing the internet more avidly than ever, and I started frequenting game sites more as a result.

Then I stumbled upon Yahtzee and consequently the Escapist.

Once I had purchased ACII, then I had begun to follow gaming news like I do now, and I became more picky about what I buy.

Buck Bumble. It's about a bee with a gun that shoots stuff.....plus it had a horrible but ridiculously catchy title screen theme song that you could never get out of your head. Ah the good old days, but I think the game after that solidified me into gaming was Pokemon.

This is an interesting question, so I tried to think hard. Which game got me into gaming? The more I thought, the more I realized I?ve kind of always been a gamer. It started with watching my brother playing his NES, which I was never allowed to play, but I loved to watch. Then I got my very own Gameboy with this really awful Buffy game, which I thought was awesome at the time (hardcore Buffy fan from age eight). Then I got Pokemon Yellow and was completely addicted. I also played a lot on my dad?s computer. Mainly The Sims 1 and Age of Empires (and this briliant and silly Lion King 2 game).

My first console was a Playstation 2, which I got for my eleventh birthday, and that?s when I really started playing. Though I guess the game that really made me a gamer was Kingdom Hearts. It was the first time I had played a game with such an addictive story.

Prince of Persia formed my gaming roots, it was the first game I've ever played and beaten whole by myself, after that came Diablo and Starcraft and I was pretty much doomed forever.

I suppose my first game that I really played was called Toypop.

It was an old arcade game I played with my mom on our newly bought PS1. As a little kid getting to seriously play a game with my mother probably encouraged me to play video games considerably.

I suppose the first game that actually got me seriously gaming though was Monster Hunter for the PS2.

I just couldn't get enough of it. I still play it every now and then.

I don't remember. I was into gaming ever since I first heard of these mystical "video games" back when I was about 6. At the time I didn't know about Nintendo or Sega or Atari or any of these companies.

For me, I started off playing Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. I remember never being able to get past the fifth stage because of that damned giant snowball. >_<

But I think the game that truly got me into gaming was the original Spyro the Dragon. That game had me hooked for a very long time. It was also the very first game I've ever beaten. After I've beaten Gnasty Gnorc, watched the ending, and found out that it had a credits sequence like movies did, I felt an immense amount of pride and satisfaction. I watched a lot of movies as a kid, and I was always fascinated by the stories and adventures the heroes had in them. And to me, seeing those credits made me feel like I've forged my own adventure, my own story with Spyro. :)

Here's to you you lovable purple dragon!

really it was probably the sims or something, that or some of the old pc games my sister used to play - age of empires or abe's oddysee. idk, i didnt play them until i was older but i enjoyed watching them. if i had to choose a proper one it'd be like a dreamcast game or something but i have no idea which one because i barely remember what i had for that console.

The first game I played was a weird little puzzle game on an old mac called "Diamonds" and my experience with that led me to seek out a lot of freeware platformers when my family got a PC, but the first game I actually saved up and bought was Banjo-Kazooie (I had to save up my allowance for a year in order to afford the N64 to play it on). I've still got that cartridge sitting on a shelf.

Lots of these threads before but you're a newbie (been watching a lot of scrubs lately).

The original Rayman, one of my favourite games to this day :)

The first game I remember playing, was also the one to get me hooked on gaming (which might be why it's the first i remember playing).

I remember playing that at the age of six on the PS1. Oh how much I played that game and NFS: Porsche 2000.

Back when I was a wee little thing I always used to watch my mum playing Age of Empires. Eventually I started to play it myself, and since then I've basically been playing games my whole life.
Nearly the same, my older brother taught me how to play games from the start. Back when I was too young to really form complete sentences, but I have a solid memory of me sitting in his lap and him teaching me how to build stuff and soldiers in the first Age of Empires
