The first game I can recall playing was on the Atari 5600, I don't recall what the game was, just that we had an Atari and I played it, I was roughly 5-6 years old

Mario Bros, Dragon Warrior, and Sim City were my favorites as a youngling as well.

But then again, I'm almost 30.../cry

Maths Blaster

Seriously. At that time, my parents didn't allow video games unless they were educational. Despite being interrupted by a maths problem every few seconds, I really loved the jetpack levels on Maths Blaster. I was a complete addict of that game until I managed to move on to puzzlers like The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis (having persuaded my parents that logical puzzlers were still "good for my brain" even if they weren't maths).

I still remember the day I finally persuaded my parents that Age Of Empires
a) counted as educational (because it contained history) and
b) wasn't just about violence (because you could also win the game by building your economy).

After a couple of years of me playing that (and not turning into a psycho-killer or failing at school) the rules started to relax a bit. But the ban on games containing guns and/or tanks has never been explicitly lifted.

Altered Beast was THE game I think. Didn't own the game myself, but I played it on the Sega Mega Drive frequently with my friend at the time. Loved video games since then really.

Played Nintendo at friends' houses growing up, borrowed their gameboys and traded Tiger handhelds. The game that really got me off my ass for a summer job to buy my own gaming setup was FF7.

1986's The Legend of Zelda for Nintendo Entertainment system. I was 3 and saw my cousin playing it, and kept trying to take the controller from him to play. Parents got it for me later in the year as a late birthday present.

It would be the Duke Nukem games, like Time to Kill and Land of the Babes. My sister's boyfriend kept his PS1 at our house and those were his favorite games. Whenever he wasn't around, I was playing them. Then around Christmas time my parents got me a PS1 and I went from there.

Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. I'd played the original Prince of Persia on an (even then) ancient desktop before DKC, but that was too slow-paced and frustrating for my attention span-less 7 year old self.

-The original Spryo trilogy (more the second and third one)
-Sheep dog wolf (I think it was called)
-Rugrats: Search for Reptar (oh yeah)

First game I ever played was Super Mario World as a 4 year old, but "the big one" was probably Super Mario 64 as a 6 year old.

I guess Tekken 3 on the PS1 was the game that got me hooked, other games helped, but Tekken 3 was the game that I think got me really interested in games

I was basically fascinated by games since the first time I saw them at age, I dunno... four?

There wasn't any "that one game" for me.
Basically this. We had a Sega Mastersystem II when I was just a larva so Sonic, Pacman and Alex the Kid where some of the first games I ever saw/played. Whether they got me in to gaming I don't know. I would say that I was more influenced by Tetris, Banjo Kazooie and Ocarina of Time. Nintendo certainly seemed to get the ball rolling even if I abandoned them later on, although I did keep to their handhelds for the Pokémon games.

I had played games before, but my "gate-game" has to be Runescape. Ever since I played that game I've been a big fan of RPG's and MMO's in general (shitty ones too).

Depends on the milestone: the first game I played was a Toy Story game. The first game I played extensively was Yoshi's Island. The first game I beat was Donkey Kong Country. The first game where I cared about the stats was Pokemon Blue. The first game where I cared about the story was KotOR. The first game I played online was Halo 3. The first game that got me into online game discussions was Mass Effect. Each were important to me in different ways.
