I've been gaming for as long I can remember, and I think the first game I played was Mysteriet på greveholm. A Swedish point and click game based of a TV show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdnvtC03cGk The music is epic.

Magic School Bus explores The Amazon was my first gaming experience.
There was a Magic School bus explores the amazon? I remember most of those games, they were good fun.

But I think my first game was back in 1992 or 1993 and it was called Formula 1 or Grand Prix or something, it was hard, I didn't have the patience for it until quite a few years later.

The original Crash Bandicoot would have been the first console game I ever played. By Athena's mighty bosom did I love that game. I still do actually.

My first computer game was Lunar Lander running on a VAX, played via dumb terminal at my Dad's plant for their annual open house. Alas, I lost the teletyped transcript of my play session but if I recall correctly I ran out of fuel and crashed.

My first video game was Space Invaders, a stand-up arcade model between the doors of the local Kmart and right next door to a movie theatre. Boy, did that thing devour my quarters.

I don't remember the first game I ever played, as I've been gaming since the day I learned how to turn on the SNES and hold the controller properly. I'd like to think that it was Super Mario World, as that was the first game I truly had a lot of fun with. In fact, it's probably the reason why I like Nintendo so much. That, and Link to the Past. Those games (among others) are really what's kept me in gaming for so long.

Some of us have been with games since the beginning, some of us have just began playing, regardless we all started with a certain game.

I'm 15, and have been playing games since I was 4. My first game (I can't remember the title), was a game made in the early 90's. I played it on my dad's old Apple II. It took place in a castle, where you play a character that has to solve a series of questions, to get around the castle. The questions ranged from sports to politics. I was very young, and I barely knew any of the answers, so I just spent my time clicking on random choices (A, B, C, D). Even so, I enjoyed it. If only I could remember the title, I want to start playing again..

Anyway, what was your first game?
That sounds alot like Encarta's Mindmaze game. It came with early versions of Encarta Encyclopedia. All the rooms had different medievil characters in them and you had to answer a question to advance onto the next room.

My first video game memories are from some Atari 2600 game I still to this day can't find the name of. I know you washed windows on a highrise or something, some rain cloud came along and did something. Some windows did something evil can't remember what though. I probably played this game when I was about 2 years old, and I'm 23 now. I did play alot of games on the atari 2600 but that was the first I remember playing.

When I was really young, my Dad gave me a Game Boy from the 80's with just one game: 32 in 1.

It was a fantastic package, and I'd play it all afternoon. I think. So I can remember.

Super Breakout for the Atari 5200, when I was 3 or 4 years old. My first system was the Genesis, but playing on my dad's Atari is what got me into gaming.

Beserk on a BBC Microcomputer.
Apparantly I was also climbing on to the chair to play around with the keys before I could walk...but that doesn't really count.

Frogger was sweet too :p

bizzarely i remember very clearly my start in the world of gaming, and infact, the start of my path as a nerd in general :p

i believe i was about 4-5... me and my mum went to Toys R' Us (for what reason i do not recall), when i saw a rather strange sight... didn't have a clue what it was at the time, but i LOVED it.

i now know it was a stand of Super Mario 64, on well, the N64 :p

i guess it showed that i was amazed at the strange contraption, as lo and behold next birthday guess what i got?

That was my first game too, actually :D And I'm 16. The encatra 98 games were my first, then the Magic Schoolbus games, which I had to go to the observatory to play, then Theme Park.

My first game, i think, was Gunship 2000 on our old windows 3.1 machine. I was quite young at the time but i still knew how to start it up with DOS.

My first game was either The Hobbit for Commodore 64 (I think that's what it was anyways", or the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy text-based adventure for those old Apple computers. That game made no sense, and still makes no sense to me.
