Mega Man 3. It was the first game that i played religiously, struggled hard to beat all the robot masters, finally downed the last one (Magnet Man) and anxiously awaited storming Wily's fortress, only to find out I had to beat all the robot masters from Mega Man 2 as well. Pretty sure that was my first documented case of nerd rage.

Ah, memories...

Sadly, I have to admit that the Lara Croft Anniversary game with its crazy-ass, work-when-it-wants control scheme forced me to trade the game in or risk an aneurysm. I was enjoying the game, but the controls were killing me.
Amen to that

About seven years ago (back when I was kinda shit at shooters)... Halo 3, Cortana, Heroic difficulty. Up until this point, I'd usually had enough sense to stop playing a game when it was making me mad, but I'd already fought tooth and nail for the progress I'd made and wanted to see it through to the very end. Near the end of the level, where you can't move five feet without getting pincushioned to death, was the first time I'd ever involuntarily shouted at a game. I remember it vividly because I was quite surprised at how much frustration and aggression I could cram into a single, staccato "FUCK".

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. Yet I have remained frustration celibate since. That said, COD WAW's mission Heart of the Reich on veteran is the most difficult thing I've ever completed in any game, but the feeling of accomplishment afterwards makes me remember it fondly, rather than remembering the frustration.

P.N.03

Kudos to anyone who knows what this game is, and why it made me rage.
Ok I love P.N. 03 to death and the only part that ever made me upset (only upset, I guess I have some sort of saintly patience, never raging at a game or anything for that matter)
was the very very last bit. D:

Honestly? Mass Effect, fighting Matriarch Benezia on the hardest difficulty, I don't know why but I got stuck on that for like three months, got annoyed to the point where I traded in Mass Effect... Bought it again a year later and completed it first try...

First one would propably be the very first Tomb Raider. There was a boss at the end that you had to fight on this relatively small platform with sheer drops on three sides. The thing was just upper torso and arms and it had long reach. Needless to say Lara wouldn't survive two hits in a row without a first aid kit. Only way to avoid getting smacked was to jump around like crazy. There was room for 2,5 sideways jumps I think. I distinctly remember that she had time for three full screams while plummeting to her death if you missjudged a step or two.

With all these numbers it sounds like a math problem :D I'd take turns with my dad trying to beat the damn thing. When one got too frustrated the other took over.

Im going to say Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. I was playing with only official patches, and spec'd in Firearms and ... something else (can't really remember), however was weak as shit when it came to physical combat.

The mission at the factory you had to blow up early on (you know the one) almost made me rage, but i got through it after a butt-load of attempts.

But then, I discovered that the game was a little broken if you tried to play it through as a non-melee class. I remember a boss in Chinatown who turned into a giant serpent/squid/thing, whom I must of attempted 40+ times, but could never kill. In the end I purchased all the guns and ammo I could carry, but I couldn't get the boss any lower than around 1/3 - 1/2 health.

Yeah, I gave up on that game.

------------

Actually, thinking back to when I first got my PS1 (I would have been around 6-7) the only game I got with it was Gran Turismo.

Nope, there it is. That was it, Gran Turismo 1 - licence tests - age 6.
So many tears.

most of the early games i played didn't make me rage, because i tend not to rage anyway, being a relatively calm person.

the first time i really got pissed at a game was probably the time i was playing halo: CE and i checkpointed on legendary with 2 bars of health and a plasma rifle, 5 minutes away from the next combat sequence. so every time i died, i had to spend 5 minutes walking randomly around so i could die again.

edit: another early one was trying to beat the devil on expert on GH:3

that was such bullshit.

Final Fantasy VII. When I was in 5th grade I was a huge PC gamer. Had a controller/joystick adapter, so I purchased the PC version. Got to halfway through disk 4... "disc read error: file corrupted".

I've never picked it back up, but I also consider it to be my favorite game that I've ever played. She broke my heart T.T

Do you remember the very first game to make you grit your teeth and clench your sweaty fists, determined to scream, or shout, or smash something, or punch someone? What game was it? Do you think it would be as frustrating if you played it now? Is it the most frustrating game you've ever played? If not, what was?
I tell you this because it was really unfair I had this computer game "JumpStart Adventures 4th grade: haunted island" it was super annoying because they kept asking questions only a kid from the United States would know esspecially with history and geography I just said fuck it eventually. I know lame game but this was when I was grounded so you make do.

Sonic the Hedgehog. Labyrinth Zone. I would've been about 4 or 5. The thing is, I could just about finish Sonic 2, but Labyrinth Zone was something else entirely.

I think I saw Scrap Brain Zone once back then and instantly died to one of the flame vents that sat under the floor.

It was the first Call of Duty I ever tried to beat on Veteran...

This video explains nicely...

That was pretty hilarious =D

OT: I don't remember the first game I raged at but I do remember Ninja Gaiden being pretty damn hard and full of bullshit and made me scream. D=

As a kid this was every game for me. I totally sucked.

Since I became 'good' at games? Super Meat Boy.

God of War 1. This was the first game that I really ever stopped playing because I couldn't beat it despite so much effort. I came so close to beating it on God Mode but could not get past the part where you have to fight all the different Kratos while protecting your family. I've tried so many times. I remember playing it for several hours before the PS2 froze. The horror. Someday, I will beat it.
