The GameStop Hate

I've always been curious. Why do people hate GameStop so much?

I honestly don't go there very often but that's because of a store I have called Game Force, which I absolutely love. But overall, GameStop has never been THAT bad for me. The only complaint I have are the trade-in values and in that case, I just don't trade there and also, I never get my pre-order bonus from them. But from what I hear, that can't be the only problem with GameStop for so many people to dislike it. Right?

I've actually been thinking of applying for a job there but I'm just curious as to why so many think it's so bad (I've heard working there is just as bad, apparently, though I dunno why).
I hope there weren't any recent topics about this. I searched and couldn't find any. But if I missed it, my bad and I apologize.

So...what is it that makes GameStop so "evil?"

Because many view them as unfair and trying to monopolize the industry. Also they try to only do resale, which gives no money to the game creators.

I enjoy Gamestop and don't really see many reasons, it's always about Trade in values, the fact it used to let employees play games and keep them labeled as New couldn't of exactly helped though.

They blow hard. They have almost no new games, relying almost entirely on shitty trade ins that often fail to work. When you do trade something in, they give you some ridiculously under priced trade then sell it for a 1000% markup. I could sell a game for at least half of the retail price to any one of my friends. I don't need this shit.

I agree with the bad trade-in-values and bad service.
Also, if you want anything older than this generation, you're pretty much S.O.L.

Because not liking Gamestop is cool and makes you seem like an edgy badass.

Honestly the employees there do remind me of car salesmen from time to time, it's the way they go about selling their product. The same can be said for people who work at cell phone srores though too.

Don't get a job there. I remember my brother had a job there when he was in high school and he worked about two days a week and usually got $80 paychecks. And that's when the economy was good. :/

People dislike Gamestop because of their crappy service. Personally, I don't hate them, in fact, I use them when I need to reserve games.

The edge card, gamepro magazine, used games, pre-orders, game guides, they're supposed to push this crap on you.
They also have a low compliance rate with putting out the cardboard cut-out displays, too many are taken home and sold.
They can open new games and play them at home, then put them back in the case and sell it as new. They're known to sell out preorders if there's a big enough demand, so there will be some people coming in on NOV 12 to pick up MW2 and not everyone's gonna get their preorder. Also the bonus items you get for preordering are "while supplies last" IE we dont have many AND we have a problem with employee's taking the preorder stuff home for free.
THe play-n-trade I go to has never pushed anything on me, and I always get my pre-order.
If you want to play a demo you ask for the wireless controller, and give it back when your done. That way there are no craptastic controllers about to fall apart from 4yr olds kicking them.
That and they still have some retro titles for a few bucks, and an SNES DEMO. WITH STARFOX RUNNNING ON IT. AWESOME.
The last thing I got from gamestop was Tales of Vesperia, NEW.

oh also this is the straw that pushed me over. I got a used GT4 game disk from a mall gamestop, checked the disk in the store after my purchase,
get this..

HAD A HOLE IN IT.
YES A HOLE.
Yeah and he put that crap in my gamecase and sold it to me!

How could they miss the fact that there was a hole in it? o_O That or...they didn't care, but still. That's crazy. xD

Because they shit all over PC gamers.

There is one shelf of PC Games and half of them are WoW, or other blizzard games. (I know that's why people buy but where's the selection). They also don't do any form of trade or returns on PC Games, if you want to return it, it has to have been unopened, and then you get a 50% refund. OFC thats at EB Games but, they're owned by Gamestop.

If you want to work there, watch this [http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/zero%2Boriginality/video/x6wnow_zero-originality-episode-1_videogames] first.
