There was this one freak bug I encountered in Dead Space: I walked into the room where you first fight the hunter, but Mercer's dialogue didn't trigger. Figuring I'd missed something, I walked back outside...and found myself perpetually falling down a bottomless pit. It was weird.

I also found this one in Alien Swarm where you could glitch into the background scnery, entirely by accident.

Burnout Paradise had one where you fell through the road. That was annoying, though humourous to hit 999mph while doing it.

Fable 2 where the game refused to stop focusing on a single character. Leave the area, come back in, still won't let you select someone else. Reload file, game's auto save feature has saved the glitch. Restart game. I can't believe that such a game breaking glitch went completely under the radar. I haven't played it in at least a year because of this.

if on FFX (and probably any Final fantasy) you cast reflect on yourself
and the enemy casts it on themselves also
and an elemental attack is cast on the enemy, then it just bounces between the two for eternity as it gets reflected back and forth
GAWD i hated that glitch

Either Harvest Moon Back to Nature, the PAL marriage glitch which ended the game or Empire: Total war, the entirety of that.

The worst glitch I have had to deal with (minus getting suck behind rocks and scenery) was the wonderful glitch in Suikoden (sp?) I can't remember which one it was (maybe 7). But it involves saving and getting your ass kicked without being able to change your party members or train.

SPOILER!**********************

Right after your sister declares war (you have your own little castle-esque base now) there is a cut scene where you get to decide who goes in which party for a war where, when you get to the queen's camp you have to fight off many of her guards. You have the option to save that night while you are the protagonist (just before the battle). Me, being the s-m-a-r-t person I thought I was, saved the game at that point. Now, at this point, you can't leave the castle area without trying to fight this impossibly strong monster, BY YOURSELF and if you go to sleep it automatically takes you to the next cut-scene and then the strategy set of battles. You can't change your party. I was able to get to the final round of her guardsmen and then died. I was never able to do it again (and I was sooooo close to beating the game! T^T). In the end I sold it, fed up with the stupid mistake I made and I didn't want to go through all the hours I had spent to get back to that part.

In Jak 2, the lurkers erroring so badly!

"La-de-da, 'scortin the lurkers to a safe place. Hey, lurker, stop! No, don't run through the wall! Come back! "
Imagine an escort mission where the people you were escorting would, once they saw you, run in one direction and not stop, even for solid objects.
And then top that all off by finally getting through it only to be standing on the manhole cover they go through and getting stuck in it when the last escortee went in it, making you start all over.

This isn't the most frustrating glitch I've ever encountered, but it's one that comes to mind immediately;

After playing co-op in Saint's Row 2 I realized I was one of the unfortunate ones who didn't get the 100(ish) or 80 point co-op achievements, even though my friend did...

The thought of playing the game through a second time with someone else, hoping and praying it doesn't happen again simply isn't worth it. Not to mention the amount of lag and glitchyness I suffer through when playing with people. What a poorly polished game... as much as I enjoyed it.

The glitch that pisses me off most in gaming, at the moment, definitely is the glitch I have with Mass Effect 2 where when I start a new game, it will occasionally lock up just before I get to design my new shepard.. In otherwords, I have to watch the initial fmv with Miranda, then I have to play the "Shepard gets killed" section... then watch more cutscenes... and then the game freezes.. I have no opportunity to save in that timeframe.. so it's usually about 5-6 minutes of fluff, followed by me having to lug my gigantic ass off the couch and reset the game manually (can't even return to dashboard, it completely locks up).

I'd say it happens like 80% of the time too.

Numerous bugs in borderlands. With the biggest one beeing on General Knoxx. If you don't leave the armory within the given time... you will never be able to complete the dlc =(
Actually, you aren't supposed to. You get guns until the timer runs out, kaboom, then credits, and then you teleport to the checkpoint just outside where you fight Knoxx. If that happened to you, then there's something wrong with your game.
