Spend the four years before my PC switch buying lots of PS3 games. Got a bit over 100 games for it, but the total cost is waaaay higher.
I have about 40 PS3 games. Yes, they are more expensive than PC online bundles, but a console game is a good thing to me. I just got a Wii U and have sticker shock. Even my PS3 games cost as little as $3. The Wii U: typically about $60! But it is so different from my other game experiences. Viva la difference.

I play games for fun instead of worrying about how much the games are sold, stocks' rise/fall, etc.

So I read the recent story about Nintendo's stock price shooting up, and I felt like gloating.
So, that must mean you have shares invested in Nintendo, correct?

Afterall, only a shareholder would be gloating over something like this. I can't see why anyone else would gloat.
Because of all the people who constantly tell me 'Nintendo is dead, Sony killed it.' Now, away with you, unless you have something to be unreasonably self-satisfied about.

Well, a few months ago, after having been away from The Secret World for over half a year, I had the urge to participate in the upcoming Monthly Duel Tournament. Following a couple days of preparation, I entered the tourney, tore it up, and came in third place out of about sixteen people.

That felt damn good.

I arrived in Australia yesterday, the weather is reasonably good, I'm recovering from a cold, and I've almost finished a university assignment.

Things are finally looking up for Caiphus.

This feels a little crass, but ah what the hell. Why not?

I'm the most popular English Touhou Project fan-writer. In the world.

And I'm the third most popular English Puella Magi Madoka Magica fan-writer. In the world.

Bask in my incredibly narrow superlative glory! Bask!

I Was part of a gang that burglarized TONS of stuff from everyone in Wurm online, which was a MMO based on permanence of player-created objects and terraforming. This game was characterized by taking forever to get anything done or made so as to reinforce the importance of any accomplishment.

We Typically broke into shit at the wee hours of the A.M. breaking walls or whatever needed to be done and lifted everything that wasn't nailed down and dragging it down into our troll-cave hideout. We once stole a very large and very expensive sailing vessel from someones dock at night by quickly completing its construction with our own supplemental parts and shipbuilding skill and sailed it right out before morning. We very skillfully maintained our well-liked helpful neighbor personas and played along with everyone else in the kingdom blaming the robberies on "Those goddam raiders again!," pretty much the Wurm boogeymen whom were actual hostile players of opposing kingdoms, but whom seldom attacked, rarely attacked undetected, and realistically had no interest in stealing horses, carts, garden gnomes, furniture, or completing large construction projects in order to steal them. I collected stolen carts; I pushed them bad-boys into the nearby lake where nobody could get at them for funsies.

I pulled a similar "heist" involving the "theft" of a large amount of dirt from an inconspicuous area at night which was illegal. It was illegal because it created a large hole that people would fall in, break their legs, and be unable to climb out of. Admins had to come out and fill it with developer tools. We did the same thing the next night. It's difficult to describe how very funny we thought this was.

The thing is, despite causing about 80% of the major burglaries in our own kingdom, we never EVER got caught.

Also...

- Built a colossus in that game in 4 days, mostly myself.

- Recently cleared last level of Serious Sam 3 on Serious difficulty on the first try without dying for the achievement

- Made a legendary weapon in Guild Wars 2

- Have 4 Steam games where I've earned 100% achievements, and 2 more where I DID have 100% before they updated with more achievements.

- 100% explored and completed all of Fallout 3 + Pitt and anchorage DLC on Very Hard difficulty in light armor without using V.A.T.S, more than 10 stimpacks total, fast travel, auto-saves or any notable savescumming behavior. I'm serious.

- Got all of china to declare war on me in WoW for ganking them too much.

... Well this is the gloating thread....

Where the hell do you buy your PS3 games? :p
Cheapest I got to was £9($15) for the games and that was because I bought my games from the UK instead of Sweden. The game prices here are insane.

I got Metal Gear Solid 4 in early 2013 for £8 which other stores had it for way more.
Got all 3 Uncharted games for as little as £15 rather than Amazon, PS Store and other gaming retailers (looking at you GAME you overcharging piece of... I will stay calm now) charging around £40 for all 3.
The year Gamecube where not selling in stores anymore, I picked up one for about £25 with controller included and a few good games and I still have that system.

So I read the recent story about Nintendo's stock price shooting up, and I felt like gloating. Mind you, it's not considered polite to gloat, and gloaters often piss off everyone else. So I came up with the idea of making a thread entirely for gloating. Here, you can be smug about any triumph you want, no matter how insignificant. Where should we start?
Gloating over whom? People who don't own Nintendo stock? I just don't understand what there is to gloat about.

Game related - was able to beat the savage Deviljho in Monster Hunter completely by myself. And more recently, I beat the 4 legendary ships in assassins creed 4. While the latter was nowhere near as hard as the former, it was the only other game last year where beating a boss felt properly satisfying.

Non game stuff - finally graduated in December with a masters degree after 3 grueling years.

Gamestop. For example:
http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/stranglehold/61495 Pre-owned. I actually already played this one and sold it to Gamestop. I got 2 different Red Faction games and something else in a buy 2 get one free sale (Metal Gear?) ended up costing a total of $10 for 3.

Typically, they'll only take like, $3 off of a newer $60 game. So, major sticker shock for a Wii U or PS4 game! I'll likely wait for another buy 2 get 3 sale so for about $100, 3 game. $33 a piece. Oy. Shoot me. I better make the 2 Wii U games that came with my console last.

Ah. Those prices make me kind of jealous.
I've been ignoring the Swedish game market for the past three years, but at least back then a new game would be priced at ~$80-$90 and used games ranged between $30-$60. Really old, shitty games could go for $15. Doubt the prices has changed much.

Are they shitty or just old. Like, Stranglehold, for what it is, was a hoot. Got OK reviews, I thought it awesome.

The Medal of Honor series has, for understandable reasons, gotten some hate. But the one that came out in 2010 that I got at www.humblebundle.com for next to nothing? I understand why it isn't considered AAA, but, gotta say, the thing is amazing fun and I paid next to nothing for it! (PC).

Last best PS3 purchase?

Sigh. Got Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY for $20 (Walmart). Extra skins and more. I already own it for PC, but bought this anyway. It was cheap and gets my Game of the Generation. It was that good and worth buying again.

Got a metal-tin CE Dark Souls for PS3 and the hardbound guide for $30 total. Also I found the PS3 3dtv for $99 and use it as my PC monitor. Other notable deals, a sealed FF7 black label for $4 at the flea market, and all the PS1 Square games except for tactics for $3-4 a piece also black label.
*gleeful gloat*
