That's the inherent problem with HL3/Ep3. When -if- it comes out, it's not going to live up to any excitement left for it. Maybe thats what Valve is waiting for, to lower hopes to such a degree so that no one cares about it anymore, so standards won't be so high.

You know what? I've reconsidered. Fuck HL3. Just fuck it. Don't bother waiting for it, since it's sure as shit Valve stopped caring a long time ago.

I'm inclined to agree, maybe they should hire a 3rd part studio (Arkane maybe) to make it.

]Your answer, there was a article on the Escapist about it. They wanted to use some new high tech 3d tech of some sort. However one problem exists, they can't have the NPC's heads follow where your character model is. So they are waiting until that tech comes out.

OT: I don't care, never particularly cared. I enjoyed their games, but i'm a mellow person.... Usually...... and i can wait for a long time for something to come out. But its getting to the point where the fans will get fed up and just MAKE Half life 3 instead.

But seeing good games like Portal 2 in sotry, I am very positive for that.
