Got an email from BioWare a few weeks ago telling me that their forums had recently been hacked and as a result my forum account may have been compromised. The email urged me to click on the link and change my login details for security reasons

Which is all fine apart from the fact that I have never used the BioWare forums in my life

I got an email from Lloyds TSB telling me that my bank account had been temporarily disabled due to suspicious activity. The only way to reactivate my account is to click on a suspicious link and enter all of my bank details.

I don?t even have an account with Lloyds TSB.

I like the enheiritence ones, "You have enheirited a large sum of money from your distant uncle, we simply need your bank account information so we know where to send the money," that was a funny email.

I responded to a an job ad on Craigslist and the person responded that he needed me to cash checks into my bank account. Everything was legitimate and nothing else from me would be needed. My pay would be 60% of the checks I cashed. Sorry I'm not going to jail for bank fraud.

A few years ago, when I was a kid, I had to find lyrics of a songtext on the internet for english classes. I found which said it had those lyrics but I had to register. So I did it but I didn't find the lyrics I was looking for. Later I got a mail, which said that since I made an account there and used their service I have to pay 80?. They really had written that you have to pay for their service but it was far down a the bottom of the page and the text was relatively small.
Further, they also wrote about some articles which say that I'm obliged to pay, lawer talk, things most kids at my age wouldn't really understand.
They also said that they've got my IP, so they know where I live and it's worse if I didn't write my real address (which I never write on the internet)or that I said I'm 18 even though that's not true.
I was quite scared at that time, I think I was 14 or 15 but I didn't pay, or tell my parents. I searched on google about that page and found out that it's aimed at underage people and tries to scare them and make them pay that way. So I simly ignored them until they stopped.
That wasn't the only page from them. Later I found out that my brother and 3 of my friends also had been victims of that scam at the same time as me, only on different pages.

I got the rare treat of someone pulling the equivalent of the Nigerian Prince scam on me in real life. I was walking downtown one day and was approached by an African guy who told me that he lived in Burkina Faso, and that he had made $8000 working in the US, but apparently could not take it back with him because it would be seized by the government, so he of course asked me if I would take the money and donate it to a charity somewhere in the city. The strange part? He actually produced a gigantic wad of cash from his pocket and showed it to me. That kind of threw me for a loop, before I decided there was no way this could actually be real, politely refused, and boarded a convenient passing streetcar before he could continue pestering me. Definitely one of the oddest experiences I've had.

Sadly just usual stuff mostly. Blizzard, shopping tipps, hot foreign girls (probably why they can't spell) and lately a lot of chinese lettering in the subject which I won't even open...

Sometimes I like to forward mails to each other. Help spread the word, y'know. Tell people they are not alone.
Maybe the prince of Nigeria and the vice-president of Burundi wanna cash-pool for their transaction to save bank fees.

Y'know, I was once scammed by a Buddhist.

I was walking through town in -5 degrees weighed down by a ton of camera equipment. I was barely alive let alone awake. I'm listening to my music player as I go to the next shooting location. This guy approaches me, and thrusts a small Buddhist bookinto my hands. He's speaking to me, oblivious to my headphones, or lack of free hands to remove them. I thought he was just some religious guy looking to spread the faith, so I say my thanks, and start to walk away, but he calls me back saying I have to make a donation for the book.

In a mix of semi conciousness, social awkwardness and lack of time to argue, I ended up paying him five pounds for the book. Never read more than a couple of pages.

That little peace loving b****** took advantage of my frozen brain cells.

I've been getting those emails for a while now. I set them to go straight to the junk folder, and they started to email me with another account.

My sister had her email highjacked while she was staying abroad for several months. They sent an email to her entire inbox saying that she was in trouble and needed money quick, with some sort of paypal link. She told me about it before I saw the email, but even though I knew it was fake it was actually still very distressing to read.

There's malware that installs itself on your computer (if you have Windows...please don't start a Mac vs PC argument here) by posing as an Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader update (looking completely legit), and 2-3 days after you click on it, it will disable your antivirus software and pop up a window claiming that you have lots of infected files on your computer, and you need to download "Win 7 Antivirus" or something like that. It prevents you from going on the Internet except to purchase their (completely useless, spyware-installing) "anti-virus program."

Never had any scams. Got this great deal on a penis enlarger the other day though, and all I had to do was wire all the funds in my account to an overseas bank, currently guarding the small fortune of a Nigerian prince. Amazing, really.

Aw man that's disappointing. I saw 'A great scam!' article by 'Jim from Accounting' and the first thing I thought of was the movie Office Space.

OT: Sounds like the guy that was trying to scam you was really stupid. Did he try to make you install a specific program or something? Also, did you get his caller ID and report his dumb ass?
