I am SO HAPPY that someone else loves 1776 as much as I do. Most of the time when I say that 1776 is one of my favorite movies (not just musicals) of all time people look at me strangely and say "Is that even a movie?". Fun side note on 1776, since it's most likely the DVD everyone will watch now: the song "Cool, Cool, Considerate Men" was originally cut from the film due to pressure from President Nixon as he felt it portrayed conservatives in a negative light.TheDrunkNinja said:You cannot deny the awesomeness that is... Mr. Feeney as John Adams, going on a tirade and kicking the asses of the incompetent and lazy congress.
I don't know if you can say this is the best musical ever, but it is for damn sure my favorite. This is the musical I grew up with. The humor is fantastic, you can't help but fall in love with the characters. It took me so long to find a DVD of this, but it was worth it to have it in my collection once again.
That is my favorite number from that movie, alongside Everything You Ever, and Brand New Day.wetfart said:One of my personal favorites. Surprised nothing else from this was posted yet.
No way. They seriously cut that? The whole musical is rife with political satire and stereotypes, and they cut that one song? Yeesh, what sourpuss. I wonder how Nixon would react to knowing that Hollywood expresses more liberal views in the films that get released nowadays.rsacks said:Fun side note on 1776, since it's most likely the DVD everyone will watch now: the song "Cool, Cool, Considerate Men" was originally cut from the film due to pressure from President Nixon as he felt it portrayed conservatives in a negative light.
