I have two favourites. HL2 and the episodes did a great job. Even though I never played HL1 it jumped you straight in with a lot of qustions and you eventually recap on what has happened. Questions get answered and then more appear which leaves me interested for more. And the ending of Episode 2 really capped it off really well. It has left me wanting more for all of these years.

Bioshock is also another. It's video diaries gave you emotions of delight, horror, fright, anger, suspense and others when listening to them. That and also the big ass plot twist about 2/3 off the way through was just gob dropping awesome.

Warcraft 3 is also a good one. A good story told by simple ingame scenes or beautiful cinematics. Probably one of the best stories from a RTS that I have seen.

Really this again? Didn't we have a thread on this 2 days ago?

Oh well, same answer anyway.

What can change the nature of a man?
A very sharp knife, if you catch my drift

I quite like the stories of Oblivion, Dragon age Origins, Red Dead Redemption and Halo; although most of those games became chores to play. funny, isn't it?

I liked the story in Dragon Age: Origins. Was pretty epic.
Except it was 'Lord of the Rings' without the ring.
Don't fix what isn't broken!
Don't copy other peoples' stories.
Not that BioWare needs defending, but you do know that Lord of the Rings "borrowed" its story from Germanic beer hall epics, right? The Nibelungleid, to be specific.

So, yeah, that story? It's older than dirt.
That doesn't excuse the fact that you can switch the names of the characters in Dragon Age and it'd be pretty much the same.

I've been following your little back-and-forth here. While I enjoyed Dragon Age immensely, and certainly there were elements of it that reminded me of Lord of the Rings, it reminded me of a great many fantasy novels I've read. I don't feel like it was a copy of LotRs so much as taking everything that's ever worked for a fantasy setting, and plugging it into a well crafted story.

[sub][sup][sup]I like it when you watch me...[/sup][/sup][/sub]

Fair enough but it took a lot from LotR, A LOT.

I'd have to say Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Sure you spend most of the game alone and talking to yourself, but you learn a lot about the Prince during those rants and the back & forth nagging with Farah. All the characters have a certain charm to them and I like them each for different reasons. We learned more about them as the story moved on and that made we work harder to keep the Prince and Farah alive. Although I did want to hurt her a few times when she would shoot me by accident...

You couldn't be any more wrong. I've got 120 hours logged on this game, I absolutely love it.

And that whole 'solely based on opinions' doesn't really work; many, many things are based on opinions only.
