What about Washington? That'd be pretty sweet. Imagine how hardcore the cops would be? Lets wager on this already (I can't believe this hasn't happened sooner).

I've got $20 on Washington DC and an extra $20 on it being set in the present day.

BOOM! Who's gonna challenge that?

I'd like to see them go back to San Andreas as a whole, but given the way they expanded Liberty City from III to IV I think expanding a whole State in a similar way would be far too big, so I'd be ok with them just focusing on one city/county from the game. That is, if they do pick a San Andreas location at all.

Hopefully they'll do England again, but I'd doubt it'd make contextual sense with the varying differences in policing and what not.
I doubt they'll do anywhere outside of America at all, much less England. I think no-one will really do sandboxes set in London, not since the Getaway outdid GTA: London, then the way Getaway 2 murdered the premise and dumped it in the Thames.
Which reminds me...

There was so much potential *cries in a pillow*.

I think you might be able to walk around and bump into people...sometimes on purpose, sometimes by accident...
Anyway it is going to be set in San Andreas.

'Nuff said.

I'm feeling San Andreas with a focus on Las Venturas, during the 60s or 70s. This time period has not been done yet by GTA as far as I know, and there is sooo much potential, what with the Vietnam War going on, the civil rights movement, HEAVY drug use, etc. The ideal GTA game for me would be like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but during the middle of the 60s rather than the early 70s.

I know its kind of a running joke in-game, but the war with Australia. I'd like to see it set here, you start out as an Aussie ex-soldier who decides to take it to the Americans in revenge for for the war.

All we really know is that we used kangaroos strapped with explosives and that America (somehow) won. Strategic analysts have predicted Australia would be the hardest country to conquer given the location, climate, etc.

The backhistory would make for a nice game.

I prefer a GTA game set in America. Considering those games are so heavy on satire and dark comedy. Especially GTA4's take on Web2.0 and modern day politics.

A GTA game taking place in another country? Eh there are other developers who have done that. Like the Getaway taking place in London

I want to see a GTA-Red Dead crossover game, perhaps set in the 1920's (I've been watching Boardwalk Empire). You'd still have horses in some places, but also cars would be improving. You'd have revolvers and leverguns, but also semi-automatic pistols and thompsons.

You could perhaps play as as two different characters, Jack Marston as an Omar Little-esque figure who robs criminals and maybe an Italian American Vercetti ancestor, just back from fighting in the Great War (this could be part of the tutorial). The two stories would overlap and you could swap between each character as long as you were out of mission, you'd have to complete each characters missions to advance. Eventually they'd meet in game.

Also you should be able to play split screen and online COOP with the two. That would be an easy GOTY for me. The DLC would be an expansion dealing with racism around the time as you play as a Johnson ancestor fighting the KKK.

If I remember correctly, I thought I read a story (when this was announced) where Rockstar had begun casting for some VOs. One of the character's being cast had made their appearance in San Andreas, which led the author to story to speculate that GTA might be going back to San Andreas. Seemed like a good theory, though I'd love to see Vice City again.

The 80s with Euphoria and RAGE? I'll buy twenty.

I'm just hoping for the next generation to be able to create 'GTA: Global', recreations of a bunch of major world cities, and you can drive to an airport at any time, and fly to another, tho you'll lose all weapons by passing thru security.

Imagine being able to move between the UK and Europe, then the US, maybe stop off in the middle east where crime is going to be a lot more dangerous :) then off to Oz to shoot up a few barbies!

Just imagine leaving Las Vegas, to land in London, then need to fly to Dublin to meet a contact, then over to Glasgow to assassinate a gang leader, before escaping to Dubai before the police investigation closes in.

What I would ask is that they don't listen to the crowd and go too silly, Saint's Row is doing that and doing it WELL, do what you did so well with IV and improve on it. (No more 'dates' please, tho!)

They did, GTA 2 was set in London.

OT: Personally, although I'd love it if they did, Rock-star won't set in San Andreas again. I'm hoping for somewhere new... maybes Washington or Chicago? As long as it isn't dull Liberty City again I'll be happy.

There was already a GTA set in Las Vegas, called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Pretty big game, actually. It was reviewed on most gaming sites and magazines. Have you been living under the sea or something?

Plus, it's not Las Vegas. It's Las Venturas. ¬¬
Pretty sure San Andreas is Los Angeles.

Well, You could have said the same thing about GTAIV not being set in Liberty City because there had already been GTA3 set in a Liberty City.

Las Angeles, Vegas and San Francisco.

OT: The 'V' in the logo makes me think of Vegas, but the 'Five' might seem... out of place there. Not sure what to think, to be quite honest. Anyway, we'll know in the next four or so hours, so there's always that.

My mistake, not played the game in years.
I'd quite like to see Washington, or maybe Boston.

I second this speculation. Furthermore using my extremely powerful English skills of deduction, I bet my boots and a good proportion of my facial hair that it will be set in an alternate Washington D.C.

Why? Well the clues are in the logo...
I was doing hours of research , reading every last book in the gta series with gta on its cover
I deduced that the game , still a speculation, may have guns
