"No..." Kin said. "I was in, but I couldnt find him. Something else got to him first.... That was weird... Some one else was in there."
He put his hands back on Silas.
Inside his head he found his persona. Basically this was Silas in the mind of Silas.
"We are on our way to a healer. You should be fine, just stay with me." He said to the self projection Silas had in his mind.
Silas could barely hear, his mind was fractured by the encounter with the Void energy but Kins voice helped some of the bits find reality and come together. Shadow and light were all he could see.
The Houses of Healing on Avalon were well known, Silas was comfortable knowing he would be brought back with some serious healing magic.
Silas felt another presence in his mind and a great shadow bent over him. Hello, little Grey. said Io the great dragon of Avalon. Her great mantle of wings hung over him as she flew overhead. Stay with our world, little Grey. Avalon calls you. said Io in mind, she hovered over them casting out a psychic beacon to the Houses of Healing to prepare.
Silas thought he heard voices singing in an odd language and intonation, he could sense other presences calling to him from the Void but soon the music died to a dragon's angry roar. Io was guarding his mind.
Damien ran, somehow outstripping even the fastest. It was amazing what adrenaline and enough willpower to power a small city for a year could do. "Claire!" He roared as they reached the House of Healing. A beautiful woman stepped out, black, lustrous hair cascading over her shoulders. She took one look at Silas and her eyes widened. She pointed at the door. "In here!" She said, as she rushed as well as she could in high heels, which was quite well.
Damien laid Silas down on the table and stepped back, allowing his granddaughter room to work. Her hands began to glow with magic as they hovered over Silas, twitching like dragonflies as the magic targeted his wounds and began to piece Silas back together, shard by shard.
Kin stood, a metaphysical apparition, on the fringe of Silas` mind. In the blank white space was a door, and between it and him was the massive white dragon.
Io stooped down low, letting her eyes match up to his. It stared at him for a few moments, knowing full well why he was there.
She gave him a nod and shifted out of his way.
As he walked to the door and pulled back the knob, he felt himself pulled in. Inside were storming clouds, fog.... all sorts of strange weather. Through the dense air, he could make out a silhouette...
Silas saw Kin's shadow within his mind. Stepping in between him and Kin was a dark shadow, wreathed in malevolent flame. "His powers have not settled, give it time or he will die."
Silas tacked the shade to the ground and used his geomancy. His power seemed amplified as he yanked the metaphsyical sword from Kin's sheathe and sent it dancing through the shade's skull but with every hit it seemed to heal once more. "Stop channeling, your powers haven't settled yet!"
In the real world, everything metal was hovering and glowing and those with metal armor floated in the air. Static discharged between Silas' head and the objects before a huge magnetic pulse went screaming out of him causing things to tremble a little.
In his mind Silas was locked in battle before a great wave of dark purple, blue and green energy bust from him and eradicated the shade, turning it to dust. Silas glowed with the energy for a moment, eyes ablaze with blood fury before it faded and Silas went up to Kin. "Get me out of here"
As kin led him back to the door and opened it, he let out a sigh.
"Shit..."
They were inside a room. the walls made of what appeared to be clay bricks. The decor of the house was simple, but one got the feeling that the house was massive in size.
"What?" Silas asked.
"Alright." Kin turned to him.
"Imperiomancy 101: The greatest misconception about us is that we see things like memories or peoples minds, we watch them like somebody would watch a play. You only see this because its your head, so it comes naturally. But what Im seeing isnt just being played out in front of me. Im sensing a collection of emotions, ideas, blatant thoughts etc etc. I have to craft it into an interpretation of memory. This is why Imperiomancy is difficult to learn, its not bending something to fit what you want, but bending yourself to see truth."
He looked around at the rooms.
"Now what we are seeing is basically a physical construct, based off of memories, ideas, and emotions, that relates to your present circumstances. We call them Meta-Splinters. I would guess that, because you are injured, this represents a hospital or a time of great confusion in your past. What you are looking for is some defining moment, something that began the recovery or some revelation. To me, all I see is blank building space, but you should be seeing something like memories, or slightly altered versions."
Suddenly there was a hard pounding at the door.
"Listen I know this is a lot to take in all at once, but you have to find the exit. It may be a person or an object. But I need you to find it fast."
The door burst open. A Saras Vampire, a figment of Silas memory, ran out.
"GO!" He said and swung the sword, cleaving the Saras in half, just in time to see two more and a dark spawn approach.
Silas moved, he understood zero Imperiomancy and he left that for his mother to explain piecemeal about his own geomancy. As he ruminated through this place, it changed. Melting together from a gray and featureless space into a dark cathedral with many hidden recesses.
He remembered the place, Dark Cathedral was where the Saras/Dark Spawn intrusion three years ago had taken place and where he had gotten a good look at something that lay beyond. A Jahi had puppeted a warlock and driven him insane, a font of unrelenting evil power. He looked like a cloud of dark purple ash and smoke whirling in a vaguely human form. Two silver bangles on its wrists declared it bound and unable to strike against its master.
"There is no escaping your end, mortal." the evil thing said and attacked, throwing bolts of energy. Silas' newfound power then was hard to control but now it was too easy. The metal bolts int eh wall flew out and nailed into the creatures wrists and then magnetized towards a wall with such force that it went flying through it. A single blast at the center of the being was enough to wipe it away into a pile of dust.
But it wasn't that simple, just when he thought he was done the thing rose up again. The invisible Jahi was now visible and as tall as the building. Smashing things as it slithered and attempted to devour him. Silas uttered a shreik and backed away, holding his hands out in front of his face.
What happened next astounded Kin who watched. A flare of bright and roiling crimson and violet energy burst over the creatures body. Slowly it collapsed under the light. The energy twisted it and boiled its skin as it withered away to dust. Grotesque bits and purple spikes erupted as it shrank and shriveled before Silas' mighty blast before withering into a burned out husk the size of a worm.
There was a sense of freedom in that, and the dark presence growled throughout the cathedral as it left Silas and darted back to the sliver of the portal which remained and Silas finally went to sleep.
Kin watched as the world Silas had created began to dissolve.
"Lets hope this works...."
He opened his eyes and was back with the group. "So how is he doing on the outside?" He said openly to anybody.
"he's fine, asleep... though that was an interesting discherge of power" Ivan stood near the doorway, watching Silas, he wasn't sure why such a discharge happened, or even how it was possible, the magnetic field was too strong for him to counter when he arrived, and his power was amplified, for a human to produce such power was strange to say the least, Ivan sighed and left the room, he needed some fresh air.
Deios stepped into the room, looked over at the sleeping silas and smiled.
"I'm glad he's ok," he said to Kin plainly, a new found calm in his voice.
Deios walked a little closer to silas and placed a palm on his brow, he sent small tendrils of heat into him, calming silas' aching muscles, he then walked out of the room and along the hall, then sat on a bench outside the house of healing and rested his eyes.
Really sorry guys.I've been devoured by new vegas and other stuff right now, so I havn't had time for all of the RPs i'm in. This is at its beggining, so I decided to let it progress for a bit first. I missed anything?
Silas was sitting in the Master's Lounge with a few other masters. His mother had been worried sick while he was out and when he came to she was thrilled. There had been many treats waiting for him, his mother still under the impression he was nine, and she scolded Damien for not protecting him but thanked Damien for saving him so Silas imagined that Damien was extremely perplexed. A letter had appeared for him a few days ago, but the script was an unintelligible demonic script used very little, which Kin was translating for him. Silas imagined whatever had gotten into his head had also somehow posted him this scroll, but what it said he couldn't tell.
It was Arcturus who came in and motioned to Silas to follow. "New recruit, she's from the Ordus Sanctorum. She's on administrative leave, so as far as you are concerned she's the same rank as you. Meet her at Liverpool Docks, you'll recognize her."
~~~
Silas was driven to the docks and it was quiet there, just the one boat unloading in silence. The crowd, however, was hard to pick apart and Silas waited there. As he stood near a boathouse where bouys were hanging, he noticed one woman was alone. She had a cloak on but the hood pulled down to let long locks of black hair flow down. Just as total silence fell over the dock, no one moving and only this woman alone staring off across the sea.
Then he heard her start to sing
"O, America you're calling,
I can hear you calling me...
You are calling me to be true to thee,
True to thee... I will be."
She paused and Silas ducked out of the way, still listening.
"O, America no weeping,
Let me heal your wounded heart.
I will keep you in my keeping,
Till there be... a new start.
And I will answer you, and I will take your hand,
And lead you... to the sun...
And I will stand by you...do all that I can do,
And we will be... as one. "
She seemed to pause before holding her arms wide, nothing else but her voice pierced the silence. Silas slipped out from where he was trying to hide and walked slowly and quietly to her.
"O, America I hear you,
From your prairies to the sea,
From your mountains grand, and all through this land,
You are beautiful to me.
And... O, America you're calling,
I can hear you calling me...
You are calling me to be true to thee,
True to thee... I will be."
She paused, probably to take a breath, for the last words seemed to ring through the air.
"And I will answer you, and I will take your hand,
And lead you... to the sun...
And I will stand by you... do all that I can do,
And we will be...as one.
O, America you're calling... "
She turned and faced where Silas was, within a few steps of her, ending her song.
"I will never answer thee...."
She smiled and said "I'm a long way from home." Silas nodded and said "Let me get your things."
~~~
Back at the Sanctuary everyone had turned out to see the new "recruit".
"This is Maeve. She's an Ordu-Serai from the Ordus and she's here to join us for a while. It isn't a big deal guys, you've seen a billion women before now scootch and let us through here."
Said Silas to the crowd. "I apologize we usually don't have this happen here. I'll show you to the Master's Lounge while I go put your things in your room."
Kin approached Silas and Maeve as they entered the lounge. He had a hard cylinder container protecting the original. As well as two rough copies in his hands. "Homework is done mommy, can I go play with the other kids now?" He said in a sort of sarcastic and humorous tone as he handed them over."
"What did you find?" Silas asked.
" Four and a half hours of this on just one cup of tea is about the closest Ive gotten to torture without malign intent...."
Silas gave a pointed look. Kin continued
" All I got was just a lot of the usual anti-earth sentiment. Lots of talk of the 'impending doom' and the 'great devouring' that is approaching. Same stuff, different day."
Silas took one of the translated copies and scanned it briefly.
"There was one weird thing though. This little section here was a trick to figure out." He pointed to a spot on the paper.
" I had to cross-reference it with Arabic, Latin and Aramaic to get a good fix on it, and I still couldnt get the whole picture. It just mentions something called "Codex Tartarus." Sound familiar?"
Then he looked at Maeve and offered a hand to her. "Kin, Nicholas"
"Codex Tartarus or "Maleficarum Tarteri" is an old book of curses used by the Arcanian Dark Six, the wizards that betrayed Arcania to the Dark Spawn. It sounds like the Dark Spawn are threatening again. I wonder where they got our address from..."
Silas put his feet up on a stool "Let me know if you get any more. One of these days...."
Sabrina came in then and said "Oh no, stay Kin. I don't mind. Just got a letter from the House Crellyx....they want a team of Guardians to come help them with something...the new recruit I suppose deserves to get some shakedown time and I think this'll help."
Damien stood up, slightly wearied by the turn of events that occured ever since the portal. His granddaughter had insisted coming with, beating even Damien in stubborness. "Well, at least I know where she got it from." He sighed internally. He stood up and nodded to the new recruit. "I'm Damien Lier. Good to meet you, Maeve." He smiled warmly.
He heard Sabrina speak. "Crellyx? It's been nearly 50 years since they last required our help. What on earth could possibly threaten them, aside from themselves or the occasional idiot with a stake?"
